I keep thinking about doing this to my bike, but then I ride through a big muddy puddle, and I am so happy I didn't. I would be curious to see if this small trim meets the happy middle ground. Had any issues with splash on your back?

I checked out the angle before I cut, and splash just can't reach my back. The tail still extends well beyond the rear tire.

Update: Rear reflector
Texas requires a rear reflector, and I'm not sure whether the taillight lens counts, so I mounted the stock reflector under the license plate. It fits perfectly, with a little shaving.
