OMG the weather forecast

The distant weather forecast looks great temps in/near the 40's.

tears of joy I knew it would happen finally, I just knew it.

You guys have no idea of how badly I want this snow gone and spring to come in but then I guess there might be a few others that feel the same as I do.

We were going up north 20 miles or so to see my sister last sunday and have dinner and we passsed a lake and seen 4 or 5 guys out there riding on the ice on their dirtbikes.Ohh it looked like a lot of fun.

Yesterday and today barely broke the freezing mark. The rest of the week is cold. Starting next weekend, is when the break comes for us. The bike is in the garage now. I only work on it on warm days now. There isn't much to do now until I get the motor back. Wheels and electrical are done. The warming will melt most of the snow, but it'll refreeze. By the time the roads are ready, I'll be ready too.

I really do agree with ya, we got over 3ft of snow the end of Dec. and it as been rain and ice ever since then.

It is melting but sooo slowly, 2 more months and it is over until next winter

Our snow here in Thorne Bay usually only lasts 1 to 3 weeks so this really blows

I'll be kind and not mention the temps I've been avoiding lately...

And the mention of ice riding reminds of something I found a few days ago.

Gosh, my daily commute finds me riding in the dark in the mid-40's, and coming home in the low-70's--cold for sure!

mid 40's is tee shirt weather around here and it looks like it will be a tee shirt wearing weekend coming up for us.70 would feel like a heat wave......a welcome heat wave.

Right now when it gets into the 20's it feels like a warm up to me.Its amazing how the body can adjust to things.

I don't think I'll ever adjust. Right now it's getting into the low 20's and upper teens for lows, the bad part is I work from 5:30pm til 4am and the only heat in the building comes from whatever I'm welding. Then they open big bay doors to load trucks and it feels like somebody pointed one of those movie style fans at you. Well, I geuss I should look on the bright side,,, Everyone else I know has been laid off and can't find decent work.

I worked in an unheated steel supply warehouse in MN. Brrrr. The welders got to work in the heated part.

Carharts were my friend. Sitting on a Forklift outside in -20 degree weather got very cold. Then my international diesel barely put out any heat when I had to may a delivery. I bought coffee just to warm my hands up.

The best duty was plowing the snow with the plow truck. It had a good heater and a working radio.

It's easy if it's just 1/2 hour at a time. A buddy of mine works for CN Rail, nights, in the train yard, north of toronto. Every night for 12 years. Man I couldn't do that. I'm so thin I'd freeze solid. 8O

IronFist. We are about the same build. I was freezing. Sometimes I spent 4 hours at a time out there. If something wasn't going right loading a truck it would take a while.

I drove truck too and toward then end I spent most of my time in the truck and someone else loaded and unloaded. I would drive between classes. 2-3 hour round trip local runs in a small 26' truck. Still needed to dress warm to chain and strap loads and perform a safety check on the truck. MDOT always on the prowl for violators.

I got it easy at work now since they put me in the garage.I spend most of my time riding in the pickup or plow truck checking lift stations (YUCK lift stations) but atleast I'm not out standing in the road wading in the mud, snow, ice and water fixing broken water mains.

Lift stations are poop pumpers-YUCK!
Others say it smells like money they're the crazy ones.

I doubt I'll be seeing 60's here anytime soon probably 5-7 weeks maybe or a stray warm day but thats it.

It doesnt matter we are on the downside and the warm weather is coming so I'm happy.

Boy do I remember welding in the cold winters in the shipyard and refineries. The wind blowing so hard it would blow your arc out!
Yes the wind can blow out a arc, the wind blows the shield gases (from the flux) away and cools the metal.
But the worse was air arcing in the pouring rain, hard to load a new carbon rod without getting the shit zapped out of ya!

I went to air arc a set of teeth off a Komatsu bucket a few weeks ago and when I hit the air, it shot out about 5 gallons of water per minute. I didn't like the idea of gouging while it was blasting water. LOL.
