Little ride in the old Hawk.

I don't ride the Hawk much these days, but I really enjoy it when I do.

I like the KLR, but really it's main advantage is the range. I like both the smaller bikes too, because they are so nimble. The KPX uses a little more than half the gas of the KLR, and while the Hawk doesn't get the milage of the KPX, it still gets better than the KLR, which is around the high, upper 40s, or so. It does hold nearly 7 gallons of gas though.LOL. The main reason I don't ride the Hawk much anymore is because I have it chained up in an old open-faced shed, and I just ride one of the others because it's easier than dealing with a chain and lock before, and after riding.

yeah, even with my stock tank I get 220 miles to reserve. my fuel mileage is only low 40s though. but then again, my carb needs some TLC. When I was out in western NC helping deliver supplies with the KLR I realized the value of the smaller 250s though. The KLR is just too heavy when you're REALLY off-road.

I agree, and the choice of tires is a factor as well . I can live with the Shinko 804-805 tires on mine, but I don't like them in anything the least bit slick.
