Engine vibration

Hi guys, my name is Misha, I'm new here, so here's the first question:

I recently bought a Peda 250ST 230cc. It has huge vibrations from the engine, like most Chinese ATV's. How can I reduce them, I thought about some kind of rubber in the engine mounts?? What rubber should I use and how should it look like?

hi micha. new tew. but i had same with my Zongsheng. I'm hopeng can smooth it out with some timing adjustment. not a mechanic but just a hunch. going to check the valve gaps and reset the timing line up. letcha know what comes of my idea.

Dont use rubber in the engine mounts it dosent work youll just brake your mounts. The vibrations from the engine need to spread out somewhere. Make sure all the motor mounts are tight a loose motor mount will cause vibration. Check your valves for adjustment. Tuning is your best bet.

If it's a CG motor, they're notoriously buzzy when new and that will get better with hours. Make sure your motor mounts are torqued properly. "Evenly" is far more important that "damn tight". They only torque to 18-22 ft lbs, respectively.

Thanks a lot, i will check the mounts, I have a feeling they are too tight, there were 2 or 3 mounts I think?

It depends. Just follow the motor around starting from the top. You'll probably see two different bolt sizes (thicknesses), as to the 18-22 ft lbs stated earlier. The fatter bolts set to 22 and the skinnier bolts set to 18.

I agree that the rubber mounts would not work..... has anyone ever tried a small sheet of plastic... ??? like the puckboard stuff or what they use those snow sliders out of..??? would be interested in that..

Yeah there were smaller bolts on the front mount and they were a little loose, sadly i don't have a torque wrench with a meter so I don't really know how much I should tighten.

22 lbs is "a tad more than snug". 18 is "snug". No need to bear down on them. They're only thin shanked bolts.

Any luck with reducing the vibration?
I have a Magician 250 (229) enduro, and above 30mph have quite a bit of vibration (from the engine?) Cruising at 50mph, I use cowhide gloves to help reduce some vibration to the hands. After about 15 minutes my fanny is going numb from vibration.
I have not tried adjusting the valves.
Anyone else experiencing this in either Magician or Hawk?
(I kinda figure maybe it's just the natural shaking force / vibration of a small single jug engine? Kinda disappointed if I cannot reduce this vibration.)

where are the motor mounts, all i see is 2 long bolts in the back under the seat .is that all that holds the engine on.Its for a kids Tao 125

If you've got the same engine, no. There should be two on the back, two on the front, and one up top.

It is a single-cylinder engine hard-mounted in a light tubular steel frame. It is going to vibrate as long as it is running.
