Cfmoto vnight inner chain sprocket mounting
Just a querie that somebody may be able to answer. The inner chain sprocket mounting is by two bolts. The bolts are tight but the sprocket floats around on the spline a little.I believe Honda uses this method of mounting but wondering if somebody could confirm that.
Also very fortunate the sprocket cover was removed as the gear indicator wiring had been routed incorrectly and was in contact with the chain. The insulation on one wire had been worn through. |

Is it normal for the sprocket to float a little even though the mounting bolts are tight?

Indeed, it is quite normal.
Good catch on the gear indicator wiring.

Yes I have a Honda clone engine. The sprocket does float a little.

I thank my lucky stars that I looked behind that cover plate. The chain had rubbed through the sleeve covering the wiring and had started on one of the wires.Had some scrap spirap from work and wrapped it with that and made sure it was behind a locating pin away from the chain and not in front as I found it.The bike has only low k's on it so don't know whether it was done at the factory or afterwards. |
