Tank 200 EFI overheating
Hello Chinascooter Scuderia.
I purchased the Tank 200 EFI fully assembled from 360 Powersport in Dallas TX. I was happy with the assembly. Nothing is loose, nothing rattles. I have now driven 450 miles. The scooter is now a little freer. I can now do 52mph on the flat and 49mph uphill (before 45-49). I hope that this will get a little better, my old 150cc Icebear can do that too. However, the 200EFI is better when it comes to fuel consumption. I managed 82 mpg urban. Still got 64mpg hard driving outside on the backroads. Today after about 40 miles of backroads I parked the scooter and had to... and have to drink something. When I tried to start the scooter, it wouldn't start. The starter turned the motor, but it won't start. Probably overheated. After waiting 15 minutes it worked again. |

Did the check engine light turn on? When my Clash was new (same engine) the check engine light came on a couple times during long rides on hot days. Always started though. I put a 20 ohm 1 watt resistor in series with the cylinder head temperature sensor and it never happened again, now at ~6000 miles.

Was your fuel low at the time? Was it hot outside? EFI pumps are in the fuel tank and the fuel helps keep the pump cool. It might be what happened. It should have thrown a code as Mudflap mentioned. That is, if your scooter has that function.

Mechanically I'm fine, but when it comes to wiring and electronics I give up. The woman in the house said: “Then you can’t buy a Chinese scooter either”. Boom, that hit. No, the engine light neither came on nor flickered. It hasn't occurred since then. I'm about 500 miles later. Today's reading is 810 miles. But thanx for trying to help. |

The engine light didn't come on, didn't even flicker. It hasn't happened since, even though I push the scooter hard. But since then I've been a little cautious about turning the thing off. Well, I probably have to go to YouTube University tomorrow. There is no information about the 168.9 cc EFI engine (161QWK). Do the variators and Rollers from the 150 also fit the 168.8 etc.? Which NGK number for the spark plug, valve clearances etc... etc.? Everything is more or less a guessing game, even the owners manual doesn't provide anything apart from very general data that comes from the 150cc. You might think that there is information somewhere—the engine hasn't been around since yesterday—but no, there is no real specific information. But thanx for trying to help. |

Where did you get the information from? Is there a web somewhere? Do you have a link to it? What do you mean by a plate on the bike? I'll go out later and see what the riveted plates on the bike say. I didn't think they would attach a plate like this to the moped. Thanx again. |

There are 3 plates on the Clash which supposedly has the same engine as the tank. 1 inside the leg shield, another on the engine fan shroud, and another on the storage box under the seat. The one under the seat has the valve specs and spark plugs specs. The variaror measurements were done by me. BTW the belt is a 835/20/30.

844 miles
I'm currently having scooter problems of the third kind. Yesterday afternoon, the whole scooter started heavily shaking and wobbling. I barely made it home. When I first looked at it, I noticed that the rear tire isn't 100% seated on the rim. You can hardly see it and must look very closely with a flashlight. Strangely enough, I didn't lose any air. I noticed that the scooter was vibrating at a higher speed (50-55), but I thought that was normal. I'll think something gave in. Today I have to take everything apart. I hope nothing is broken. It's a shame you can't post problem-pictures. |
