Grin Another expedition to a covered bridge in PA, and Palace of Gold

Put about 91 actual miles on her today. Ran like a top but I have to say it does shift better with Valvoline synthetic racing oil than anything I've tried yet. Anyway. Fun Fun Fun!

I've been going out there since the early '90s. Back in the day, after the Dead rolled through the area, we were flush with doses of LSD, and we'd go out there to enjoy the scenery and quiet. Back then, it was just after the scandals out there, and it was very sparsely populated. We were often the only humans we could see. But now, things are getting better out there. There are large numbers of visitors (beautiful women in colorful dresses) and the place is under renovation. I am not Hindu or Krishna, but the place brings me peace and takes me back to a time in my life when things were simpler (despite the mind-bending chemicals), and I was young.

That's what the Hawk does for me. When I was a kid, the neighbors father would pile the neighborhood kids (along with his two youngest, Jason and Mary) into the back of his 57 Chevy stepside truck and take us on an adventure. One time we went dirt bike riding. Reed, one of the older kids, had a Honda dirt bike, likely a CG125 or CG250. It was the mid to late 70's. He took me for a ride, first time ever on a real bike. I was so small at the time, he let me sit in front of him and hold the smaller, inner bar of the handlebars. The Hawk takes me right back there in a way the Harley never could.
