Can i get 65 mph out of a roketa db7a

And does it have an ohc engine in it?Just want to make the right choice before i go buy one.I heard the best way to break them in is to ride them hard in the first 20 miles to seal the rings.What do you guys think?I would really like a black one but it looks like blue is what they are offering

I'm doing research on these bikes and a good dealer told me that these are not EPA or DOT approved. So you can't license them. So if you plan on going that fast on dirt, that is wicked fast!

I'm now researching Lifan. All websites say they are DOT/EPA approved.

DB-07A is the 200cc street legal enduro or dual sport with the inverted forks. The DB-36A is the pure dirt 250 that is not EPA approved.

The break-in that you describe used to be called the "Motoman" method.

I just called xxx-motorsports and the "dealer" said that they are not EPA/DOT. I also wrote another importer and they basically said they are not EPA/DOT. I see no websites that say its EPA/DOT. It may be street legal in China, it is not street legal here!

Well, people ARE getting them registered and riding them legally on the road. The dealer I bought mine from claims they are street legal. See this link:

I am waiting on an MCO from Roketa, but I called my DMV here in Vermont and they seemed to think I would have no problems registering it. Does anyone have a link to a web site which lists which bikes are and are not DOT/EPA approved. If these are not DOT/EPA approved theres a nice class action suit in the makings because all Roketa dealers I have seen definately advertise them as street legal! BTW, if you are over 200 lbs, don't plan on running 65 mph on this bike! 50 -55 is a more reasonable speed to expect to maintain. 14 HP will only take you so fast. And, yes, the new DB07A (RSX200E) IS the OHC engine.

Ok to answer a few concerns:

-I'm 265lbs
-Mine is legal and I ride it everyday to work in SC
-I have gone over 70mph on many occasions and at extended periods. My own opinion is that these engines are bullet proof, because it still runs great and I beat the hell out of it everyday.
-I have over 2300miles on it now
-Yes it is the OHC version.
-If you have a state that has some sort of EPA requirement you may want to know all the facts of what you can and can't register. I had zero problem with registering mine and Dad's in SC.
-My MCO also did not have "For off road use only" or "Dirtbike" on it. If your's comes this way it will not get registered. Mine had MOTORCYCLE.

Hope this clears up some mis-information.

State law here in MN requires DOT/EPA approval before a title or registration can be issued (MN State Statute 168A.085). As we know from the experiences of our members, some states allow titling and registration without meeting those federal standards. If so, you have more bikes to choose from. It would obviously be up to each buyer to check with their respective state before buying.

Everything that he said is true for NC also...no problems. My title has motorcycle on it.

Although I have 40 miles on mine, haha.

I have personal knowledge of 8 DB7a's that have been tagged in KY. without a problem(my personal ride included). I think perhaps your thinking of another machine? Lots of folks in a number of states and Canadian provinces have tagged them without issue.

Getting one registered in Texas isn't a problem. Varies by state, though.

To all this concerns:
The DOT/EPA is very important this year. EPA is at 100% emissions this year. Yes the vehicle has to be approved, but some are able to be registered without approval as long as the Bike or MCO/MSO says Motorcycle on either and not dirtbike or off-road. EPA restrictions are 50% higher than last year. A lot of these off-branded will not be seen in 2007 & 2008. The EPA law states that there will be One importer Per Building Factory, so all of the companies that are importing vehicles made by someone else will stop. This means that American Lifan will be the only importer for Chinese Lifan products due to the fact that they hold the EPA Certificate on Lifan products, etc. etc. for all of the factories in China. The only thing you will see selling are older versions of these bikes that the importer has left in stock when they are gone there will be no more from them, unless they build factories and pay for emissions approval. I hope that this helps.

So, if I understand you correctly, then Zongshen will only be able to sell a motorcycle labeled Zongshen? Or Loncin, Loncin? etc.

Can this EPA information be found elsewhere so that it can be read?
