Just 87mph from a 36hp bike? That has to be either wrong or geared to climb trees. The RX4 is impressive. Much is being made of the 450lb weight but honestly it's not bad given the competition. I'm really hoping Joe Berk in his capacity as quasi-official voice of CSC, or someone else that knows the RX3 well rides both a lot, I"m genuinely curious of the differences. |

If I were in the market for another adventure-style bike, I would definitely go with the RX-4. As it is right now, the Missus and I are working on having a house built, and she has very firmly said no new bikes until we're in the new house. I can't decide if the next one will be a sportbike, or a cruiser. The CSC San Gabriel has some appeal, but I need a bike that can do sustained highway speeds for a couple of hours. As for the OP's question, I would always lean towards the bigger displacement bike. A larger bike can do most things that a smaller bike can do (the catch always being something like a really out of the way single track that's too narrow for anything more than a grain of rice on a piece of string), but the smaller bikes really struggle to do everything the larger bikes do. I had to ride one of my motorcycles back from Vegas a few weeks ago, and I took the DR because the Hawk wouldn't have done the speeds that trip requires. The Hawk is my go-to for around town, but when I have to go anywhere that the speed limit tops 55, I can't use it. Just my two cent's worth, hope it's helpful.

The Spec Chart Below
Looking at the spec chart below, the L, W, & H dimensions, it hard to believe that the new RX4 and RX3S are both approximately “45 inches” longer than the RX3!
I guess that new twin cylinder engine is quite a “LONG” motor?. |

GOOD WORK! I couldn’t believe that the overall length of the RX3/S and the RX4 was listed as about 45” longer than the RX3! Glad someone could get it straightened out. Thanks, it helps visualize how the bike’s compare. |

Since the correct specs have been posted...
Since the corrected specs have been posted, I’m inclined to be a purchaser of the 2019 CSC RX3/S bike, since it has the twin cyclinder engine, more HP, more torque, higher top speed and new transmission ratios and only weighs about 15 lbs. more than the RX3.
Next I’d jettison the crash bars, and the rear top case to reduce weight which will also enhance performance, since I’ll be spending more time on the highway than trail riding. |

450cc with a 94.5 x 66 bore / stroke...
that motor is set up to produce a lot more power than the 43hp in the RX4.. with such a over square bore/stroke.. In fact it prob not the right bore and stroke combination for a heavy ADV bike... wonder what ealse it will be seen in... I would say they have other uses for it in mined.. It will have the ability to rev fast and high.. ..

I'm guessing each will be about $1,000 more then the RX3. I like both bikes, funny they felt the need to develop two similar sized engines at the same time. Either would suit my riding better than the RX3.
I look forward to seeing what other Zongshen models these engines appear in. |
