Templar X: Connector under the tank, and 1st gear indicator

Installed the PE30 carb and Nibbi throttle cable, and in the process I uncovered an unused connector (just a black and green wire) and perhaps someone can tell me if that should go somewhere:

My second reason for consulting the wise China Riders: A while back I replaced the front sprocket and I think that's when I lost my first gear indicator. Neutral displays N, all gears 2-6 show up, but 1st shows up blank like I'm in-between gears. Functions just fine, but potentially an easy fix?

I had the same connector under my tank. I say "had" because I clipped it off and added my own wires to up behind the headlight. Saving them for later but I'm thinking of a USB charging port. Pretty sure the original plug was just for an option we didn't get.
