Janus Revisited
I know these have been previously discussed in short, but it's just amazing to me that these things are getting such a cult following.
I know, I know....that sounds odd coming from a long-term China Rider, as people can't understand how we can possibly spend good money on a "cheap Chinese bike, that will certainly self-destruct within weeks of purchase, and is impossible to get parts for.".....but the reasoning's are completely different. China Riders buy China bikes because WE'RE CHEAP! We get the best bang for our buck. Janus riders pay $8k for a Chinese 167FMM CG motor! Huh? I'm totally flummoxed. I know, the bikes are unique and very 'Old World" looking, but at $14k for a 450 SWM motor (China Shineray thru Italy), I may have a bridge to sell these folks. Am I all wrong here? Will the Janus motorcycle someday be the DeLorean of the motorcycle world? Is it the Leno's and Kardashians of the world who are hoarding these Janus bikes, just to someday be sitting on a Rich Person's Gold Mine?.......or is Steve at CSC inadvertently, woefully undercharging for his products? Help me out here........

I'm in the same camp as you. can't understand why someone would shell out these kind of bucks for a weak motor. Even if they were to put a more modern 250 in them, it's still overpriced. But then again...people pay for Harleys.

Personally, I think that Janus makes fantastic looking bikes for people that drink Green Apple-tini's and wouldn't be caught dead with dirt on their high-fashion riding gear. The bikes are absolutely beautiful, and that's what drives the market on them. Not functionality, not a cost/value equation, nothing but looks. It's like being seen with a Voss water bottle or Starbucks cup. Call it the "Big hat, no cattle" effect. While I don't think they will ever elevate to the status of a DeLorean, I think that they have their place among the super hip crowd. In other news, DMC has begun releasing reserve dates for both the reimagined ALpha-5 and classic DeLoreans! Boyhood car fantasy, ACTIVATE!

I guess I just feel that if I was going to spend 8 grand on a new bike, the motor either better be proprietary, or if not, be something more than I can pick up on Amazon for 400.00. https://www.amazon.com/Futchoy-4-Str...88404392&psc=1
