Clutch adjustment

Last ride of the day I noticed it didn't feel like my clutch was totally disengaging. Pulled it in and the bike kept going longer than it should from just "free rolling".
That and it's been getting harder to find neutral the past week.

How do I adjust my clutch?

Thanks for helping me out with a newb question. I guess I never have a problem with asking newb questions because the more help we all continue to post the more we'll all be helping others and the more the site and support will grow.

Where the clutch cable enters the clutch lever perch there will be a threaded adjuster. Sounds like you have too much free play in the clutch cable. Thread it OUT to get less free play = more clutch release.

Not too long ago my bike would slip out of gear under torque.

Adjusting the clutch cable fixed the problem.
in picture below the adjuster can been seen at the rubber boot below the header.

This is if you have taken all the slack out down at the armature that Molypod has pictured with the two adjustment nuts. I would do this first then, take the slack out of the clutch lever on the handle bars as Red2003 has described.

Why are you guys messing around down on the motor? The adjuster on the lever perch is made to be the easy way. Thats why its knurled so you can adjust it without tools. Just wondering???

When I replaced the springs and before, there was always slack in the cable at this location. Once you take your's apart you will see why. The flat spot on the internal rod has a little play this is designed to be taken up by the internal spring...So what's left has to be adjusted out if you want a clutch that begins to disengage within a 1/4" of pulling it in at the lever on the handlebars. Once that was taken out, I was able to remove any other unnecessary slack at the lever. I guess it also depends on how you like your clutch to disengage and engage.

The Lifans (my 05 at least) don't have the adjustment on the lever, just on the block.

Got ya. Well that's crummy!!! It's a pain to get to the adjuster on the engine on my Roketa. It's right under the exhaust. I guess if that's the only one you got, you gotta use that one then :( .

Yeah, that really stinks. The Roketa has clutch and throttle adjustment on the controls. If they hadn't, that would have been my FIRST mod!

I started peeling it a bit and it was going to be a mess.. I'll get some goo gone and when I want to spend the time I'll take it off.
Most of my free time has been spent doing the mods or riding and I run my freetime on a real tight schedule ( down to minutes before I have to go back to work)
