Took The Beast to work today!
An unusual sight unless you are at a motocross track. A YZ parked at an office.
Roger and I are riding after work so I thought I'd save some time and try out my new dual sport kit. :P ![]()

Is that a spot of oil under it?

I was waiting to see who would be the first to notice...
Yes. It's normal. These motocrossers have no method to trap, burn, or recirculate oil in the crankcase vent system. They simply allow condensed oil vapors to drip out onto the track, or sidewalk in this case. The crankcase vent is simply a rubber hose from the top of the head to the lower left side of the frame.

The new plastic looks great! What headlight did you mount?

Thanks Brother Spud!
It's a Polysport. It came with a BA20D bulb which would have had WAY too big a draw on it's little batteries. I replaced the socket with a GM style 1157 unit. Miraculously perfect fit, BTW ![]() The plastics are Polysport as well. I caught a killer deal at RM ATV/MC and replaced the entire body for about $100. Add $40 for a can of correct pait for the frame touch up and I think the bike looks pretty good. 8) Taking it to the Blue Mountains tomorrow for some forest single track. Going with Andy, Roger and Tony. Look for a ride report soon. ![]()

Spud's headlight is excellent.
![]() I used the 1157 LED not because it was brighter but because it used MUCH MUCH less power and would allow my total loss electrical system to function longer on a charge. I did not choose it to be brighter as I don't plan to ride this bike on the street much at all, and likely rarely after dark at that. With that said I'd say the light output is similar to the BA20D, but 'whiter' with a blueish tinge. It is not as bright as a halogen, not even close.

Also the halogen conversion would be easier and cheaper than the LED conversion. Again I had very specific needs to go with the LED that you don't have. I endorse the halogen bulb in your case.

Did you perform the H4 headlight coversion, Pliskin? :?: If not, the H4 headlight conversion for your Zong is very easy.

Spud,
Is the base of the H4 the same as a BA20D? If so, and if I had known that before I could have saved a bunch of time and money. Also I may still change my 1157 to an LED H4 and use my BA20D socket. I bet that would be more light.
