Coolster 3150DX2 transmission ?
Today I think my boy got overexcited when a neighbors grand kid and his friend met us on the gravel road out front of the property. They were on a 110cc Honda dirt bike and a Yamaha 350cc ATV. Before we lined up to race(that's what they wanted and to check out our quads) the others were revving the motors. So my boy decided to follow suit and while the RPM's were still elevated went to shift into forward. You guessed it, I hope..major grindage .
Then he proceeded to do it one more time later on in the ride . I told him if he breaks his transmission by continuing to "forget" what I explained to him when he first got it, he's done. Will the two episodes of gear grindage have caused detrimental damage to these CVT trannys. Bar anymore incidents, man I hope not. fella's! |

Guess by that lack of responses to my question, is not a good thing. Thank guys.
Have no idea of the materials used on the gear sets in he transmission and how durable they are. |

You should be okay. I like to know how many times my daughter grinded the gears because she could wait long enough for it to idle down. Hers is two years old with no issues.

Will just have to remind him prior to riding for a bit in the future. Pretty sure yesterday was its first time. |

I'm in the same boat on knowing how they are built but mine have been forced into gear and got the god-awful noise with no ill effects yet.

I had an incident of the linkage loosening and I didn't realize it. Twice I switched from rev to fwd and it slammed into gear as I thought all was well and hit the throttle. The first time was no biggie but second time I knew something was wrong. Found the linkage not working right, fixed it and all has been well in the trans... it might be tougher than we give it credit for.

I keep telling her this thing doesn't have rubber gears lol. She hasn't done it in a long time but had grind the gears a few times in you new UTV. I cringe every time she does it and just give her that look.
