I just got under the edge with my pocket knife and pulled up a little tab to grab. Then S-L-O-W-L-Y pull the whole thing off in one piece. 1 minute tops.... Same with all the other ones on the bike.

jeffhei, do these bikes still come with the "cool boy" sticker, or the "auspicious" handlebar pad?

Use a blowdryer to make the adhesive release easier.

Yes, the handle bar pad will have to go. I don't have the cool boy stickers on mine.

i found some cool renthal pads on ebay that were black and red, i think dlunt actually has one that is similar, or exactly the same as what im talking about. I will be taking the auspicious pad off and tossing it into a dumpster unless someone says that may want it.. haha.

Anyone want a brand new "auspicious" handlebar pad in blue, if you can tell me what type of animal that is, you can have it... I just took it off and put the pad back with 2 zip-ties until I find something better, add to the flat black look though..

Several months ago, we went through the whole "cool boy" sticker thing when we were all just on the Yahoo! Groups. When this site came about (Halleluya :!: :!:  ), and our rank for how many posts we make is based on the "cool boy" sticker, I dread to think that when these bikes are being auctioned at the Barrett Jackson auctions, how much less the ones with de-stickered "cool boy" stickers are going to go for vs. an all original GY-5 that still has the "cool boy" sticker and the "auspicious" handlebar pad. Think about it, cool boys, before you go and ruin a perfectly good bike by removing those stickers!! 8O :( :(

Remove the cool boy stickers, what???? Actually I took off all the stickers except for the GY on the tank and had to take some 400 grit sandpaper to the rear panels to even out the clearcoat then painted them and the front head light cover flat black.. I'll get some pics up soon.. Heck I just might paint all the plastics flat black, not sure yet...

I would have to agree. I don't quite see how 'auspicious' applies. Maybe to the overly-optimistic speedo some of these bikes have?
