Old fart on a new(er) bike

Hello all. New owner of a 2023 Templar X 250cc, which I am in the process of assembling. I am the third owner of this bike which had never been removed from the shipping crate. I am retired and working on motorcycles is my way of passing the time. I have tuned and farkled my other three bikes to the point there just wasn't much left to do to them but ride them, so I figured it was time for another project. I found a gentleman in my area that had this 2023 that had never been assembled or registered, so I figured why not? I live in the desert in AZ and have numerous trails outside my house, and while I've been riding them on a 2022 Himalayan, perhaps a small "Enduro" type bike might be a fun change of pace.

I've been studying these pages and have already garnered a wealth of good information, but I'm sure I'll have some questions. Being the third owner of this bike and seeing "off road motorcycle" on the MCO leads me to believe registering this bike may be a challenge, but I will cross that bridge when I get there. Hopefully it's not washed out ;-)

Welcome and you've come across a little bike that is really quite fun when used in its proper environment aka light dualsport and exploring. These bikes punch so far above their price point is it amazing in our current world of inflation. A couple of tips, the bike comes out of the box with almost no preload on the rear spring, adjust it so the sag is correct for your weight (plenty of youtube vids on this) and definitely play with the "clickers" that adjust the rebound and compression dampening as they really do make quite a difference.

Welcome! These bikes are great for getting out there and getting exploring and getting lost. Worth every penny.

The X will be an excellent desert explorer. K'hermit is a Sonoran dweller, and he has added accessories to customize his desert rat. It looks great:

Got the bike together and running today. Came together much faster than anticipated. Took it for a short spin around my property and it' running good with the PE30, 125 main, 40 pilot, clip on #3 and about 2 turns out on the air mixture screw. Will probably need some tweaking, but will wait yntil I get it out on the road and run it through all the gears. Now I'm just trying to source a good set of hand guards and maybe a better belly pan. I cranked down the preload a lot (or so I thought) on the rear shock when I had the sub-frame off, but I think it will require more. Hardest part of the job was getting those damn plastics on
