gio 110 wont start

my gio 110 wont start,it has lots of fire gas and air but just turns over and starts for about a second and the stops again.I changed the carb(from a running 110) that didnt help,changed the cdi,no luck.when it sits for an hour it will start up then stop and then nothing.anyone have this problem before? im guessing piston rings,,,,,,,,,the compression seems low

Maybe a valve adjustment is needed.

Maybe it doesn't like to colder temps..

How's the battery? Charge it up?

I speak 110cc Gio. I find them annoying little beasts with the choke position and sometimes needing to roll it around a little. New plugs too?

Hate to sound repetitive here.. I haven't seen valve specs.

X2 on the plugs.

What is the history? Was it running fine and then it gave trouble, or is this a new machine that has yet to run properly? Was any of this a result of a modification?

the machine is stock.i replaced the plug,the carb,the cdi....and always had the charger on the battery.but the guy told me it was running fine,then he shut it down with the kill switch and has been hard to start ever since.actually now it just wont start.if it wouldnt have nice spark,I would say maybe a stator.

Valves are a possible solution. It doesn't hurt to set them.

I wonder if the kill switch is flaky. Wouldn't be the first. Can you bypass it?

had a new motor in stock so I went ahead and changed it...same thing.I even took the tank off to see if it could be plugged and everything is good.today it would start but would stop if you touched the gas.and it really smokes blackish..........only thing left to change is the harness,

Go back to the first carb and try again. Did you try a different fuel source altogether?

I was going to suggest your trigger voltage from the stator as Waynev had discovered but if you changed the motor that would go with it so hmm..

I wonder out loud if it's a bum battery or maybe a wire loose .. check the rectifier.

changed the rectifier,installed another battery,and on the old motor i had brought the trigger coil closer and it hadnt changed anything.as im writng im thinking about the anti-start thats on the brake handle..........thats pretty much the only thing i didnt try.

it was the key switch......................after all that work!!!! the switch worked fine,started and stopped the bike like a new one.I decided to change itjust because I had changed everything else...i said why not.......and yes it solved my problem.it runs like a champ again. many hours wasted but,I have another satisfied customer and a another gio experience under my belt!!!!
