My TMEC 200-1 by Excalibur

Here is my new tmec 200-1 on/off road enudro. Bought if from Excalibur. They put it together and shipped it to me. My first bike! Haven't gone over it too much yet, and don't know much about them... first question - was driving around a little tonight, and stopped and showed a friend (first off he couldn't believe how little I paid for it) but he also thinks the tires may not be street legal. At least back when he drove an enduro, could only have so much gap between knobs, he doesn't know if anything changed though. Has anyone had a problem like that before? I'm sure each state has their own rules so I'll have to check here in Wisconsin, but just wondering.

Here are two problems I noticed - taking nothing away from the bike because I love it! First the foot peg by the brake doesn't drop all the way down, friend said bad casting, but looks like I can take it off and grind it down to make it better. Second, there is a hole in the frame, I'm assuming from bad welding. Hoping its not a big issue, but wondering if I should fill it in - to keep water out. If someone could give me their opinion.

Today I started going through and taking bolts out to put loctite on them and snugging them back down. Came across the front plastic that wasn't secured. The rod on the inside had holes that didn't line up with the plastic so I rigged a bar to connect them on both sides.

I'd bet (not being a citizen of the USA) that DOT is Federal, meaning that it would be accepted nationwide. The tire has to have a pressure rating on it; look at the fine print.

Definitely grind the peg mount until the footpeg sits horizontal.

Nice work on the bracket for the plastic. The holes rarely line up on the Honda clones.

I wouldn't worry about the hole in the frame in terms of strength, but a little silicone will keep the water out. Better yet, Dap is paintable.

Chinese bikes are known for their quarks. I had a 2005 Jetmoto 200cc endure, and the plastics, once taken off, never went back on correctly. The TMEC plastic, while not quite world-class, can be taken off and put back on without issue.

My '09 TMEC was a white bike with red frame and trim. It seemed as though that frame had clear coat over the red, so the welds did not look as 'distinct' as they do on my '13 model. Then again, I never did get to look at a black '09 model to compare the finish. I can envision that they have gone through a few welders at the TMEC factory between the '09 and '13 model bikes, but not for the better.

Ha! I had to Google 'dent side' - but yes. Its a '78 f150... not much of a motorhead, car or motorcycle, I just buy what looks cool to me. Love old fords and have 2 broncos too. I'm looking for a atv now, but I'll be buying another bike next spring. Love the enduro look, so probably a bigger cc than my tmec, or I like the cafe style too.

Its nothing special, just for hunting and hauling stuff. Used a roller and tractor paint, lol. And painted the chrome black. Has held up pretty good I think! You have some old rides? You seem to know about everything with a motor!

Took my bike down to the hobby shop today. They still haven't gotten their order of enduros in yet, glad I didn't wait to get one there. He said its no problem working on it or doing any upgrades I might want, so anything I don't feel like doing - I have them. They have been selling, modding, and fixing Chinese scooters for a few years so I'm sure they can handle any issues I come across.
Also, did find a DOT mark on the tires, as well as the air pressure, I was looking on the wrong side I guess! Figured it would have been on both sides, but only the left side.

X2 on all points.

Indeed, the acronym DOT stands for Department of Transportation, which is a federal agency. The DOT insignia on any tire is sufficient to prove that tire is street legal in all of the United States.

I put 26 psi in both tires on all my motorcycles. I always stay within 2 psi plus, or minus, from the 26 psi inflation.
