Farmers insurance must have known I was bragging so they sent me something to put me in my place. I got a new insurance card in the mail yesterday and on the policy information it states at the top, "Description: Motorcycle-LOW SPEED". Thanks for reminding me!

Funny. But perhaps they are rating motor cycles as risks by their speed. There are 160 mph motor cycles out there, or so I have been told. They may very well be rated as "high speed". I don't doubt that there is a higher risk exposure with the ones defined as "high speed"...ARH

Head Scratching Just received replies from two dealers

I just received replies from two dealers of SSR motorcycles.
One dealer informed me he would not be stocking anymore SSR XF250 Dual Sport motorcycles as they do not sell well or at all.
The other dealer told me he would not stock XF250 Dual Sport's anymore, but he will order one for a customer if the customer pays in full and cannot refuse delivery. The dealer also cannot guarantee you'll get the color you prefer.
This doesn't sound very good for SSR.

That is a shame about the slow sales, but I looked at the most updated 2018 EPA/DOT on-highway certification list, and SSR has three models listed as certified as XF 250's; The 'XF 250', the 'XF 250 DT' and the 'XF 250 Snake Eyes'. Keep in mind that many manufacturers, especially Chinese ones, have several models that use the same engine certified on one certification, but never send to the US. Heck, TGB Scooters has something like 16 50cc model scooters certified, yet have 4 models they sell here (they keep renewing it which means it is most likely FAR easier than getting certified from scratch). I am fairly certain the XF 250 is the 2018 dual sport, and of course the Snakeyes is the bobber, but not sure what the 'DT' is. It might just stand for 'Dirt Track' and be a retro or current dirt tracker style model? That is if SSR even decides to import ANY of the bikes, let alone another street model. If I had the money or credit, I would like both the dual sport AND the Snake Eyes, even if it has come ugly bits to it. But if they threw in a dirt-tracker, then I would need 3 bikes...

OK, did a search, and this is the 'DT' just as I thought. Will it make it here? It is certified, but we shall see...I am intrigued!

That has been my biggest gripe about the SSR situation. It seems to be their utter lack of proper marketing, combined with their illusive support capabilities. It's the whole reason I bought the TT250 over the SSR XF250, though I know for a fact the SSR is a more modern, higher technology, better built motorcycle

As I've typed so many times in the past, my QLink XP200 has been nothing less than flawless since I bought it in 2009 and has provided me with a quality motorcycle that I'd put up against the DR200 any day of the week.

It's just too bad that someone like CSC can't pick it up and do it right.

Like the look of XF250DT

Hope to see or obtain more detailed information regarding the DT model.
I'm checking with SSR and one of the nearby dealers. From what I've learned so far is there are 2 versions of the DT. A Dual Sport model with a taller front wheel & knobbie tires, and a Super Motard model with same size wheels, front & rear, with road worthy tire tread. I hope this info is correct!

It looks like Engtaobao has been revamped and is even more English user friendly than before. Also, we can search by keyword! To do a search for Qlink/SSR parts replace"XF" or "XP" with "QM" so for Xf250 parts search for QM250 GY parts.

So I just did my first front tire change, the old Kenda 244 was toast! Too easy, never paying to have tires changed again. Also, the original rotor was warped from day one and I decided it was time to change it out and put new front pads which which should have happened a long time ago(odometer reads 11,500 miles right now, probably more like 10,000). I used the Haynes manual which was great, but I have a couple unanswered questions.

How much to torque a front axle? I have it at 40 ft/lbs right now.

What is a good tire pressure for mostly street riding? I have been running about 20psi and I feel like my front tires are wearing out way to fast.

Also, the new front brakes are really smooth on a quick test ride, but I really have to pull hard on the brake lever. Should new brakes grip good right away or do I need to do a harder break-in or try bleeding?

The old front tire was a 18-4.10 instead of an 18-4.60... I need to pay closer attention to what I get when I order tires from Amazon. It wore the same as the stock front tire, wear on every other knobby... Now I'm back to the fat 18-4.60 and it looks great.

Question SSR XF250 dual sport/enduro model questions

To Forum members who own the above models of the XF250. I'm interested in the highway speed of the XF250 dual sport/enduro bikes.
The model years I'm interested in are the bikes that look like the current pictures on the SSR website.
What is the maximum highway speed you have been able to obtain on "level" pavement road surfaces with no tail wind or head wind with the stock gearing sprockets?
And what is a comfortable, sustainable highway speed that the XF250 can travel for extended periods with the stock sprockets?
And if you have changed out the stock sprockets, what is the tooth count and what was the obtained speed?
