Took a flight up the Snake River to a little riverside strip that I like. About 30 miles out of town but very beautiful isolated area.

Lonely fisherman. He waved.

The Palouse hills. Desert land and dry wheat farming.

120 MPH and low over the river.

Very nice, Doc. That looks a lot more fun than the flying I do.

Where I'm working this week.

Pronounced STEW MEK. Manufacturers of small railway maintenance machines. Located in the very pretty town of La Tour du Pin. When you think of an old French village, this is that village. I'll get some pics up of the town tomorrow.

What I'm driving.

Citroen Xsara Picasso. Company car. Hard to believe this is/was a platform for the Citroen WRC Rally cars. Kind of spooky to be driving at 135kph in it.

The car looks like fun. Enjoy the village if/when you can.

A few pics of La Tour du Pin I promised, a day late.

It was a cold and crappy day, so not too many people were out and about. You can see the towns' church steeple in the above pic. It's impressive. The guys took me there after lunch to take some better shots but it started snowing hard and I couldn't see the steeple. Maybe next time.

One of my favorite little French treats, Orangina.

I can get it at home but it just doesn't taste as good. Notice that the French guys are drinking Coke and the lone American ain't.

Back home late tomorrow night.

My daughter loves your pics; France is on her bucket list. It'll be cake for her, since she's bilingual.

Tell her to keep those dreams alive, Weld. Getting out to see the world has many more benefits than being a homebody. I have a cousin who refuses to leave Wisconsin and he's proud of it. :? Jackass is impossible to talk to about the outside world. Me, I'm on my third passport and will be replacing the current one next year.

I spoke French better when I last here, 22 some years ago. Now, I'm like a first year student. But, the pronunciation and sentence structure has improved a lot since Sunday night.

The techs and I had a few language barriers to overcome until we started talking 'technical'. Then we were speaking the same language.

Hm, I have some doubts about that. WRC car was based on the "normal" Xsara:

That's just a regular hatchback. Picasso are the vans. Picasso is 5-seater, Grand Picasso is 7-seater, which is probably more close to Xantia, than to Xsara.

Weird French Same story is with Renault. My wife drives Grand Scenic:

which supposedly is based on Megane, doesn't have much to do with it:

No worries, Krasi. What I know about French cars wouldn't fill a shot glass. French bicycles, on the other hand...........

Kato. Nice pics. Can't wait til I can look out my window and see a lawn free of 'dog pee yellow' snow.

Travel is one of the best and most useful forms of education, for the traveller and for the people he/she meets abroad.

It's also one of the best ways to learn to better appreciate home.

I lived and studied and taught in Israel for some time back in residency and it was a wonderful experiance.

I'm glad to see Buford is climbing once again, Allen! That is one tough cat.
