Question Catalytic Converter?

I ended up finishing the exhaust today....and it took some "anal attention". The header pipe was still quite close to the engine case so it took me a while to get it all adjusted properly. Its fits snug but good so I'm happy with it.

The rear mount at the muffler took a lot of imagination to keep it away from the plastics but the mount finally ended up with something I could accept as good. Different thickness shims (nuts), tried a few different bolt lengths, etc...but ended up finding all Allen's and having to re-drill one hole....but it finally "went thru the uprights".

I also thought that the blacked out wrap of the header pipe running across...and almost disappearing against the black motor ended up rockin'!....especially with the aluminum pipe heading out the back after the center bolt joint. Nice contrast. I'll get a pic of the complete bike when it's done. Looks cool.

Thanks to our fellow China Rider and friend "pcspecialist", I took his advice from a post and opted for the Unibear chain to replace the stocker. I have to say that it seems a very nice chain! As opposed to most chains, instead of being peened at just 12 and 6, this chain is peened at 12-3-6 and 9 on each pin. Very nice! That's usually just for the high priced spread. It says it's "pre-stretched" and "hardened" so....for the $$, this could be a very hard chain to beat. Thanks for the lead, pcspecialist.

Well, I got all the plastics, seat, etc...on and fired it up tonight. I can tell you, the improvement in throttle response is dramatic...and the exhaust sounds awesome! Like others have said, it's not too loud....but it has a much deeper tone. I'm kind of surprised as it's straight though design....but so far, so good.....and it also looks really cool!
Mrs. 2LZ came out and said "The gold band matches the "TT's" on the tank!" Lucked out on that one. ;-)

Come on sprocket and air filter! DAMMIT!
Do you know whats in the egg on your pipe? Is it a catalytic converter? Thinking about buying the same pipe. Thanks

We've answered it before a few times somewhere , it's just an 'expansion pipe' built to look/perform like the FMF PowerBomb Header... if it really works or not on the Chinese product... who really knows ... nothing is in that expansion pipe

Not sure about the "egg" but I can with on doubt say that on the TT250 it "works"

I love it! It sounds great and also, it LOOKS very cool! I can't wait to get it out on the street and put it to the test. Again, the throttle response is greatly improved over stock. Not sure if that's the pipe alone or also the mikuni and jetting. Probably all a factor.

I shot a short vid but have no clue how to use You Tube or get it posted. My nephew is coming over next weekend to try to teach this old dog some new tricks.

Project at a standstill. :-(
Still need air filter and rear sprocket to finish. Filter should be here any day. I emailed JTS this morning with a "WTF!?" email. I'm thinking there is some communication error between Amazon and JTS somewhere along the line regarding status of order. Ordered on July 15th and still showing as "not shipped".

Yep....and I got a response back from JTS telling me they don't sell through Amazon andit has to be a third party vendor. WTH? JT Sprockets is listed as the vendor and I sent them the link.
Hopefully this will get straightened out. I enquired about buying direct and canceling my Amazon order. If they don't sell direct through Amazon, they may want to find out why they're the listed vendor. If this would have been third party, I wouldn't have ordered it.

Sheer madness. So I cancel the Amazon order because obviously, I can't get it through them.
I get another email back from JTS telling me that this is a problem, customers get upset but there's nothing they can do about it.
Then she tells me they don't sell direct to customers so she put me in contact with another company who can help me.
I call them, they ALSO don't sell direct to customer but can provide me with people that do...so now I have two contacts of companies I've never heard of, in hopes of procuring a stupid rear sprocket!

Kohburn....kick down bruthuh! Who'd you get your sprocket from and what part number and price did you get?

I can order from Motorcycle Superstore.com but they want make, model, etc...not just the part number.

That's exactly where I ordered mine and it had yet to ship....and well, then there's "the rest of the story", as Paul Harvey would say.

Thanks. I'll give it another try.

Well, thanks to the link kohburn has supplied through Amazon, vendor 'oemcycles', I reordered the same sprocket....cheaper, no tax and with free shipping! :-)
Also, within an hour, it was "preparing to ship" status!
Thanks kohburn!

EDIT! DANG! It just shipped! Now that's a good link to a good dealer! :-)

Depends on the riders weight really... I'm only 120lbs and our little 197cc Bashan is running 17t 39t for sprockets and 'pulls' just fine with me on it

Why would you want to? Even 17/45 is a tad bit too tall.
