In 2001, I bought a Hyundai Sonata. It's still running strong as it approaches 200,000 miles on the odometer. I was similarly warned to avoid that automobile.

I have also been warned for 6 years, and 67,000 miles, that my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 is a 'cheap piece of Chinese junk.' Some people still don't believe me regarding my Zong, and they don't believe the three motorcycle magazines which reviewed the Zongshen RX3.

Well said. I'm at the point where I'd rather have a comfortable saddle and a lighter bike. I'm not trying to set land speed records, I'm trying to enjoy the journey.

Who are these people, and why are you wasting your breath on them?

I encounter these people on other forums. You are a wise man. I think I am going to stop wasting my time with these people.

Speaking of land speed records, you and I are probably the only people who have ever ridden a Zongshen motorcycle on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

While the ADV forum is very cool, with a lot of great information, some of those cats are...

If it's not what I think, you suck.

I've always gone my own way.

I'd love take the Grom out there and set a land speed Grom record!

The Bonneville Salt Flats are the most desolate place I have ever visited. There is neither a weed nor an animal to be seen on the salt flats, not even an insect. If you visit, take plenty of sunscreen, and wear good sunglasses. People have sunburned their gonads by not wearing underware beneath their shorts.

Anyone interested in riding the UTBDR over the 4th of July this year?

http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/UTBDR

I should have my RX3 vetted by then and think this would be a great ride for it.

I don't live very far from the north end of the Utah BDR. Therefore, I will consider taking the trip. I suggest you start a new thread on this topic in the Ride Suggestions Forum.

http://www.chinariders.net/forumdisplay.php?f=117

It appears to be a 13-day trip, going one way across Utah. Then one has to figure the logistics of getting back to the starting point. I might also be interested in starting at the Mexican border, and doing both the Arizona and Utah BDRs at the same time. Of course, the Idaho BDR will be posted in January, so one could also ride all the way from Mexico to British Columbia. The Idaho BDR will cross the Magruder Corridor, and I have made that trip for the last 4 years, so I am well familiar with that part of the route.

That would be an epic trip!

Shouldn't take that long.

I like the way you think. AZBDR, UTBDR, IDBDR and if you wait a couple of years MTBDR, WYBDR, COBDR and NMBDR, the Grand Loop!! Too many great rides and too little time. Man I'm going to be busy.
