Vehicle registration tax and sales tax for the selling price of the vehicle. The thing that everyone pays when we purchase a car etc. Usually included in selling price at the car dealer. Aka TTL. Oh no , check writing party continues even after you turn that key. mine to the tune of $181

That's one thing no one talks about when they buy something like an out of state bike. "X-amount delivered to your door" does not include the rest of the charges and taxes each individual state levies. 3.5% is dirt cheap compared to CA and CA is dirt cheap compared to some other states. It's all relative to where you live. CA sales tax goes by county. My county is 7.5%. This may shock some, who have never set foot here, who think that CA is outragiously expensive.

There's another reason CA seems more expensive (in many ways it is) than other higher tax states because here, the Clowns Under the Dome want their DMV $$$ upfront. The dealer (CSC for instance on our TT), by law, has to charge you your DMV fees and taxes with the sale of the bike and do all the DMV work for you.

The downside of this system? Higher initial cost...that (most) everyone else ends up paying anyway. It just takes others a separate trip to DMV.
The upside of this system? I get a bike delivered "ready to ride and registered" and no trip to DMV.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other....

I'm sorry to hear of your problems, Ron. Nevertheless, thanks for reporting the poor customer service. Your report will serve as a warning for others in the future.

that was in 2015 to vertana in NYC... ive even been on the phone to them. the texas attorney general said they would write the complaint to the BBB, but all they can do is put it on their website about companies with complaints.... I feel a road trip coming on.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Can you bond the title or get a VT title?

You should have 60 days to dispute the charge. I know the feeling I got mine about were I wanted it and hated to think I would have to give it up because of some darned paperwork.
