Rhino Earned It's Keep
Once again, the trusty Rhino proved it's durability this weekend. As I've stated many times previously, it's not a toy or trail rider for us but a tool for our property...and wow, it really earned its keep this weekend.....as did the pin hitch.
We were collecting deadfall off the lower property from this unreal Winter we've had. There was also a downed small pine we'd dropped and limbed a couple years ago that we hadn't gotten to, and a big oak limb, both buried in weeds and saturated from all the rain. I chained them up to the Rhino and with an aggressive start, busted them loose from the ground and dragged them all the way up the long hill to the burn pit. I really had my doubts at first but the new gearing really proved itself. I doubt it would have tugged them out without it. Then, Mrs. 2LZ spent the rest of the day pruning cedars and small pines (so I can mow under them) and collecting more deadfall. The Rhino never faltered. Oh...and who says someone who doesn't hunt doesn't need gun racks!? ;-) My biggest worry is now that Mrs. 2LZ and the Rhino have bonded, I may not get to ride it anymore........

Yep, it's all about clearing the ground and pruning off the fire ladder. The critters aren't too happy us clearing the habitat though.

My two favorite workhorses. Good steads, they are. They got worked hard this weekend cleaning and clearing more deadfall and dragging felled trees up the hill to the fire.
Here's Mrs. 2LZ after she felled a dead cedar and was cutting it up and then the reward of burning it all. Between the drought and the bark beetle, they've laid waste to our trees here and as BlackBike knows, it's all standing fuel. Either we "control burn" it...or Mother Nature will "uncontrol burn" it. My neighbor has dropped 27 pines so far and he's not done. We fared well compared to most.

Sand Lake, OR. There is a length of a couple miles that you can ride right next to the ocean.

Quiet on the ATV front and I wanted to resurrect this thread. Here's a couple pics from our second annual Retired Scout Dad Beer Swilling Campout. This was in June when a late winter storm came through. Cold and wet Friday, Beautiful Sat and snow flurries on Sun. Both quads did well again with no issues.
