Tao motors tbr7 2020

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but used a lot of what everyone had posted when I purchased my Tao this April. There a few things that changed in between 19 and 20 models, I think. The front and rear sprockets on my bike are 530 pitch not 428, 33teeth in the rear and 12 teeth in the front. I don't know if it was a one off or this is just now their standard.

I was working on the rear tire and muffler to get to the shock and I had a few questions I hope some of you can answer. There was a stripped screw on the forward mounting point of the muffler, just after the muffler connecting to the exhaust pipe from the engine, Im sorry I don't know the exact name. Would using JB weld putty work to put some grip back in to the bolt to just hold or would I need to retap the threads and source a new bolt? Both bolt and threads on muffler look gone.

Secondly, is there only one spacer on the brake side of the rear tire? I have one larger spacer on the sprocket side and a thinner spacer between the brake and swing arm on the other. I just want to make sure that I have it right. Could someone post a picture of their rear wheel assembly so I can have a reference?

I have a video on the page before this ( page 6 ) for the 2019 TBR7...@ 7:15 of the video literally showing you the spacers.

Thicker black spacer on the chain side, thinner silver spacer on the brake side.

So 'YES' 1 spacer on each side....assume 2020 is the same as 2019

Can someone tell me what the stock rear sprocket is.

FWIW when I take stuff apart I typically do 3 things..... (especially if I haven't done it before)
A-Take a pic
B-put different parts groups in different bags or trays (for the stuff that has alot of steps and there are 3 or 4 different 10mm allen bolt lengths for example)
C-put them down in the order I took them out, ie bolt, then washer then nut. kind of an "exploded view"

I say this as I have learned "the hard way"......errr I need to do it that way....

I usually employ tactics A & C that you outline above.

I dont' use tactic B .. because .. c'mon .. a little scavenger hunt for a missing bolt adds some excitement to my life.... or is it frustration?

What year ?

2019 rear stock sprocket is 46 tooth and it is actually stamped on the sprocket.

ahh yes the scavenger hunt sooooo much "fun"

i also use a magnet sometimes to keep all the bolts in place.... you know in case i have a moment and kick a bowl over or whatever.......

its somewhat of a crap shoot really... some love this dealer some love that dealer....l either way get some metric tools , a good attitude and loctite and you'll be ok...

Went to Enoree OHV trails with my tbr7 (stock tires) yesterday and what a time... these tires and the combination of red clay made for some occasional slick spots.... great fun and would be more fun with better tires and dryer conditions...

we just assembled our first TBR7, but have 4 parts and a couple of bolts left over.

Purely guesses, I only assembled(mostly) one in my life.



- Ring looks like gasket for between the exhaust port and exhaust pipe.
- Flat metal looks like skid plate, that goes behind the bash plate(what I call them) for under the bike. The hole allows for oil changes it seems.
- The springs appear part of your rear brake pedal assembly. One returns(the bigger) and the smaller is for the light switch.

It makes sense that it's the gasket for the exhaust, kinda guessed but it seemed to be fine without it for the first 150miles, guess I'll take the bolts off and put that gasket in between asap just in case.

I'm confused as to how the springs attach to the rear brake pedal, I can't seem to find the right space for it to attach to, will have a look later today.
So the second one is for the light switch, I kind of just thought only the front brake triggers the brake lights
