Do you feel the filter picked up some power? Noticeable?

The filter was done more due to the fact that the inlet diameter of the PE carburetor is larger than the PZ, plus the position was likely off as well meaning the stock air box is no longer useable and thus the filter was necessary. It might have been worth a tiny bit of airflow, but on its own not likely going to be a measurable difference.

Hopefully it leans my bike out a bit. My 100 jet still has mine too rich.

As Megadan stated. It's minimal but a little to here and there adds up. You will have to increase the jet size in most cases.

Unplugging the exhaust will give you your biggest improvement.

Yeah, and this is true for most of the bikes in the 2k price range (and cheaper). There almost always seems to be a big booger of weld at the flange end where it meets the head, and the catalyst is too small for the pipe diameter and causes a huge restriction. Remove those and you will be amazed at the difference.

My Hawk wasn't too bad on the weld but this bike had huge weld in the pipe.

I definitely plan to gut the cat soon. I plan to cut out a window to remove it rather than cut the pipe into pieces. I figure it’ll stay lined up correctly that way rather than accidentally put a little twist in it when welding it back together.

If you look at the picture at the begining of this thread you'll see that you will see you need to cut in two. I put some punch marks to line it back up.

So does the cat come out as a cylinder inside of the exhaust pipe? A pipe inside a pipe? That’s how it appears in the pic. Thanks. I may try to remove it this week.

That's exactly what it is. Only thing i suggest is cut it further towards the front of the bike closer to the weld . I was expecting it to be like my hawk but it's not. This was easier to remove than the hawk one for sure. You get to learn from my mistake. lol

Hah, I appreciate the insight for sure. My good buddy is converting his HF 90 amp welder to DC and bought some good Lincoln flux core wire. He’s just waiting on the capacitor and I’ll open up the exhaust and we’ll weld it back together.

Make sure you weld it at the lowest heat setting. This high grade steel will burn through like butter.

So you’re saying it’s not quite Detroit, made in the USofA, quality steel? lol

Thanks for the tip. We’re so used to the HF welder being so weak that we’d probably turn the thing on full tilt trying to get it to penetrate.
