I often buy items and find that I don't like them. Ebay has been a great tool in that I can get a used one and often resell it for most of what I originally paid. Sometimes more.

Sold a cub cadet tractor after playing with it for 4 years. Made money.

I need to buy a new (used) mover for my new yard. I lost my zero turning radius Toro Z-Master on the sale of this house

New house is 1/2 acre no real obstacles. Flat. I was thinking a simple small riding mower? Maybe a few years old? New they go for $1,000+ 8O but I only want to spend over $500. It will be kept outside under a tarp for the time being.

What's a good brand? Does it matter? What should I be looking for in features? Anything on this CL page look good?

Do you need a bagger? I would find a clean older snapper. Slow, but easy to keep up and parts are cheap. Should be fine for a smaller yard.

Looks like no snappers out there.

You can usually find an old murray for a couple hundred that may need a belt or starter relay or something like that. Parts are easy to get and they are simple to work on.

Find one with a briggs engine. Avoid the tecumseh. Craftsman are not that bad. Usually you can find a slightly neglected one for less $200 and just alittle effort have a decent mower.

I am running a free Scotts/John deere. Bad safety switch. Bypassed that. Been mowing 2 years now. New belt for deck and replaced the head gasket, rebuilt carb. Still under a $100 in it.

If you can rebuilt a motorcycle carb you have all you need for a mower.

I see Craftsman mowers quite a bit. Murray too. I don't think I need a bagger. Never used a bag. What's the advantage?
