I checked the plug today and it's gone a little white. Lean
I'm not sure how much I should change the jet size. I've also ordered a replacement petcock for the bike http://www.ebay.com/itm/181404146404its been dripping on and off ever since I got the bike. I'm usually able go find a sweet spot and get it to stop dripping. But no luck today. So ordered one. Dave |

Literally bought this same exact bike this morning for $300 bucks. I have the battery cover but it's in horrible shape. I'm completely new to dirt bikes and they guy that was selling it had it reving but no idle. I cant even get it to rev up.
I need a new battery as well as to clean out the carb i'm assuming. Air filter also needs cleaning, but I'm new to this and I guess I'll learn as I go. As for the battery, how do you keep it in place? I have the side covers but no bolts and the wholes don't seem to match up. The battery seems to just be sitting there. Anyways, I hope this is worth the $300 looking forward to learning to ride this thing... Here are some pics if you're interested. |

I think stock is 130
Everything I read with similar mods says go to 132.5 So I might order a 132.5 and a 135. But I want to check first that stock one is a 130 I might leave it till after Saturday as were planning another ride Dave |

If you're not going to change jets before your next ride, I recommend premium fuel from Chevron. They have dedicated pumps that do not share fuel with regular or mid-grade. Cheap insurance.

Head to your local Yamaha dealer. They're probably around $5.00 OTC.

I'm glad to see you successfully installed the FMF Universal Spark Arrestor; I really like mine. After you blow out the 2-stroke packing, I suggest you repack the silencer with Lexx MXe Premium Silencer Packing.

Good to know spud. Noted for future reference
As for jets I've ordered Main jets 132.5 135 and 140 I also ordered a 42.5 pilot. Stock is 40 from what I've found. I want to get parts here so hopefully only have to do it once. Once it's all here. Here's what I'm thinking. Steer me otherwise if I seem off the mark. But going to change the pilot to 42.5 if stock is 40 And I think 135 main Dave |

Dave, that makes no sense that he would say that to you. He'll have a catalogue of parts from each supplier (not just Yamaha) that he can order from, including Trans Can Imports and Motovan. If you bring the jets in, he can (at the very least) match up pics with what you have, and tell you what sizes are available.
Perhaps you got the "new guy". Maybe they were thinking of Yamaha-specific jet alternatives from the parts book. If that's the case, then yes, only the stock jet is available with a Yamaha part number on it.

I just finished placing the order. Was my first time buying multiple items from one seller on ebay. But after everything shipping conversion to canadian dollars ect.
The total was 28 dollars for the 4 jets. I can live with that lol Dave |

Totally acceptable price. Too bad the local Yamaha dealer failed to look in the parts books. Not that the loss of a $28 sale is gonna cause him to close the doors, but we should all try to support local business where we can.
