Yeah I should have contacted them too. But Amazon is not too far from here, and my desire to ride the thing quickly opened up my wallet
LOL.

So the new Mighty Max battery came today. Checked voltage, 12.64v. Removed old battery and decided to kill two birds. Wanted to test out my motorcycle jumper cables I got a few decades ago and never had a need for. Hooked up red to red on bike and battery. Black to black on both as well. Got a big healthy spark when I connected black to the battery. And heard a loud pop. Almost like a fuse blowing.....but that's silly, why would a fuse blow just from hooking the battery up?
Removed jumpers and checked continuity on the jumper cables. Red to red, black to black. Nope. ?!?!?! Checked red to black. Yep. The idiot who assembled the jumper cables switched the red and black sleeves on the alligator clamps on one end. I re-switched them on the free side of the clamps on one end, and covered the wrong color on the other side, which actually connects to the cable, with the opposite color of duct tape. Re-checked the battery, and this time it showed 12.84v. So at least it was not damaged. I've got lawn to mow and didn't want to get into more bike work today. Went to Jerry's KPX sticky and found the fuse holder under the seat. Something to do tomorrow.....

For a minute there, I thought the batt cables on the bike were wrapped with wrong tape. But you said you disconnected the original battery first, right?
If it was disconnected, are you saying that you connected the battery to the bike with the jumper cables, bypassing the old battery? Was the backwards tape wrap on the jumper cables ? Or the bike?

Made some slight editing changes in post #93 for a clearer explanation.

Popped in one of the two spare 15A fuses that Lifan provides, installed the battery, fired it right up. All good! Tomorrow will be a nice day for a ride.

Went for a short ride today to give it some love and start to get my riding coordination back. With the 14T front sprocket, it showed 6000 rpm at an indicated 65 mph, which is probably about 62 actual. Didn't take it higher since I only have a bit over 100 miles on it. Still, after almost 14 months! The windshield was nice to have too.

So those of you who have changed sprocket size, and have rode quite a bit on the new sprockets. Do you recommend it? I do mostly road riding, just some off road (dirt road, not motocross track) on road trips. I'm a bit heavy and also got gear weight. So I figured going with a bigger sprocket would be smart, but wanted to hear from you all first. Thanks for all the info.

It'll be a lot of mix driving, But I think 75/25 (street/dirt). Maybe some states areas would be a bit more dirt. I will be loaded though I am about 230lbs, plus 100lbs or so of all gear and equipment for trips.

a little after the fact but wonder now some year later how the paper oil filters are holding up vs the metal mesh type.
Also wondering about how much more or less restrictive the non OEM filter is to oil flow?? have not heard of any major engine issues but not sure how many are using the paper type filters. hope to join the KPX 250 club this fall.. Quote:

Today I received the code scanner I ordered a couple of days ago, along with the adapter cable for my Lifan KPX (and probably every other Chinese EFI bike, I suspect). Also comes with a USB data cable for uploading info to your 'puter.
Lynx below: https://www.amazon.com/ANCEL-AD410-E...1zcF9hdGY&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5VQ9F3G...f_=as_li_ss_tl Link to Herbie's YT Video on what to do with these. He is demonstrating an Ancel AD310. I went with the AD410 based on a Project Farm review on inexpensive scanners, and also Scotty Kilmer's recommendation.

You should be replacing your paper filter. Or cleaning your metal filter screen at least every other oil change. Iv had zero issues with paper filters. About to hit 4k miles.
