Thanks for posting the update, and the photographs of the engine's internal parts, Jeremy. Does anyone know if Honda manufactured an engine similar to this one?

That polymer oil pump gear and centrifugal oil filter are pure Honda. Looks exactly like an XR200 in there.

The clutch is slightly different from an XR200, but the oil pump pickup looks the same. Honda has a 150 in the CRF line, so that displacement already exists in nature. The CRF150R is also liquid cooled.

I looked up the clutch on BB for the CRF150 and it looks the same as the ZS. I think we have identified the clone.

Let's start examining some photos, and see if the engines look the same. Here are several photographs of the engine in the CRF150F.

It seems the cylinder head and spark plug placement are different. :?

Could be (I hope not) a hybrid clone, ala XY's 400 Rotax/Honda engine :? . I don't like it when the Chinese come up with their own ideas  . I wish they would make a faithful clone of the XR400, but I don't see them doing that anytime soon I'm afraid.

Specs / links for 200 and 155
Jeremy, thanks for the specs, the suspension travel was what I was looking for. 7 inches isn't huge, but much better than the usual 3 to 4 inches most other local machines seem to offer.
As you mentioned, it is the Yammie YBR is more of a road bike, likely based on an older Euro YBR, just with some dual sport trappings like the 50/50 tires, rack, upright bars and so on. http://www.motorstar.com.ph/products/road has the links for the Motorstar (Zongshen) 200 and 155 (150) models as sold in the Philippines. Interesting that the water-cooled 150 makes more power than the air-cooled 200. [/u] |

tonny, yep.. the 7" is still not enough... it bottoms out easily - 'had it twice yesterday, running on a pond of water just about a little over afoot deep drop surprise.... for 200 pounder i can hear the scary thug sounded like a big warning, hehe.... but still 'survived and should be ok... sharing you how it is today here... worst december month we have now. 'should be a cooler dry season but turned out to be very rainy! |
