Thanks for posting the update, and the photographs of the engine's internal parts, Jeremy. Does anyone know if Honda manufactured an engine similar to this one?

That polymer oil pump gear and centrifugal oil filter are pure Honda. Looks exactly like an XR200 in there.

Do you think Zongshen reduced either the bore, or bore & stroke to get a smaller, 150cc displacement? Is so, Zongshen might have kept the rest of the bottom end of the engine the same, and added a water cooled cylinder. In any event, it's nice to know that Honda parts will probably fit this engine.

The clutch is slightly different from an XR200, but the oil pump pickup looks the same. Honda has a 150 in the CRF line, so that displacement already exists in nature. The CRF150R is also liquid cooled.

That's probably the clone.

I looked up the clutch on BB for the CRF150 and it looks the same as the ZS. I think we have identified the clone.

Let's start examining some photos, and see if the engines look the same. Here are several photographs of the engine in the CRF150F.

Could be (I hope not) a hybrid clone, ala XY's 400 Rotax/Honda engine :? . I don't like it when the Chinese come up with their own ideas  . I wish they would make a faithful clone of the XR400, but I don't see them doing that anytime soon I'm afraid.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I agree on all points. I wish Zongshen would make a faithful copy of the XR400R. I want a genuine Chinese copy of a mid-displacment, Japanese, dual sport motorcycle!

Specs / links for 200 and 155

Jeremy, thanks for the specs, the suspension travel was what I was looking for. 7 inches isn't huge, but much better than the usual 3 to 4 inches most other local machines seem to offer.

As you mentioned, it is the Yammie YBR is more of a road bike, likely based on an older Euro YBR, just with some dual sport trappings like the 50/50 tires, rack, upright bars and so on.

http://www.motorstar.com.ph/products/road has the links for the Motorstar (Zongshen) 200 and 155 (150) models as sold in the Philippines.

Interesting that the water-cooled 150 makes more power than the air-cooled 200.
