Yeah, sure enough. I'm sure Joe will want to get that changed so it doesn't grab brush and stuff off the ground and sweep it up into the chain.

Actually, I'm only 57.....but I've never not had a bike since I got my beater Honda 90 from an uncle when I just turned nine...so I had an early start.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that shark fin chain guard bit is supposed to be angled towards the rear. A search of the web reveals several images of other bikes with a similar guard mounted angled towards the rear. For example:
