Doc, they is one on the local craigslist here for $600 in non runner status. Been there for a month at least. I may have to make a low offer.

I also noticed the bike has a kick stand switch...maybe just a light on the dash though, people typically let bikes run while the stand is down. It may just have a light on the dash warning its down?

As for the emission device...its a tumor prevention device not actually a tumor itself. Whats the hippocratic oath, did you read it as a hypocrite oath?

You don't have much to lose making a low-ball offer. This is a good time of the year to buy motorcycles.

My *thinking* was, by offering you what you should see @ the CDI plug, you could determine what EXACTLY is faulty.

If you meet the requirements at the plug: CDI/coil are suspect (coil easy to check with ohm meter), eliminate the coil, you are left with a faulty CDI.

If you don't meet the requirements @ the plug: you work with those specific wires to meet the requirements.

It could be something as easy as a faulty key switch.

To me (and I am a self confessed idiot), it is the only sensible way forward, other than "shotgunning" the entire wiring system.

I think they allow the bike to run while it's down so long as the clutch is in or the bikes not in gear. I could be wrong for the zong though, but that's how it works on my kawasaki.

The part I don't get is that I DO have a spark, just a weak one...

I suppose it could be a carb issue but that would have been overcome with the starting fluid and/or putting fuel in the cylinder which I did already.

It wouldn't be the first time a kill switch sent a China Rider for a loop.

Reveeen's troubleshooting style is in the military tradition; start in the middle of the circuit and determine if the signal / power is good. If yes, move forward, if no, move backward. It's a very effective and economical method.

I meant to disconnect the kill wire from the CDI last night but did not have the time. Gideon The Cat had a vet appointment.

That cost me more than the Zong. 8O

Don't you have any spare surgical instruments at home? The microwave makes a great impromptu Autoclave, and you can take a shot of bourbon to calm your nerves.

I have proven to myself over the years my skills at diagnosing people don't carry over to cats.

I thought he had a torn ACL and it turned out to be a sprain of some sort and he's getting better.

IHe also needed his shots and a microchip.

Turns out he's already fixed. Must have had a home at one point and been abandoned or run away.

I'd be *thinking* either the CDI>coil wire (that feeds the tach part), or CDI (someone saw a capacitor bulge)
