Speaking of 'modern antiques' my Enfield will get 70 MPG but it takes a loooong time to go that far ;-)

As far as range goes you can store jerry cans in the sidecar and have enough range to cross Siberia, which I'm sure was part of the Ural's original design parameter.

I'd love to see that.

On the Gold Wing forum I've seen some well engineered bicycle racks. With the sidecar I bet there are plenty of ways to do a good job. I'd be EXTRA jealous for that.

One of my fixed gear buddies has a similar setup on his V-Strom.

I'm probably going to go across the back with a receiver style hitch, mostly because the likely candidate to be hauled anywhere is one of my British 3 speeds, which, with a generator hub, are a PITA to remove and install front wheels on.

You probably know this but I recommend going with a rack that has elongated 'loops' to hold the wheels and an inverted 'U' shaped padded bar to hold down the top tube. This will keep the bike from swinging on a 'hang and bang' type rack. Nashbar has a good one pretty inexpensive.

I don't like the nylon strap around the bike's headset, looks like it would wear the paint but other than that some fine engineering there.

Nearly November and still riding weather in Cheeseland;-)

Maybe God extenting your season a bit to make up for lost time this summer.

Eli and I went for a short ride last night and he was sporting his new lid with, wait for it, Iguana spines.

Three years old and wears an adult XS. A more than typical Friday night in town. November 4th, a Friday, almost 70F, people basking in a World Series win on the street and Eli waving to everybody.
