And if you want a spare, you can have mine as well. Never even been used because I upgraded to the Tach cluster immediately lol.

On to next issue. The front wheel is not as rigid as I would like with respect to handlebar rotation. What I mean is when I grip the front wheel between my knees, I can rotate the handlebars (about the steering axis) about 3ish degrees. This manifests as the bike feeling a bit squirrely when I go over a long crack in the road. Are there any fork braces out there that we know work? I'm thinking of something like this. or Something like this which seems more doable and we have the mounting points for it. Thanks again! Last edited by wamey; 06-06-2017 at 03:48 PM. Why is it a good thing to have the front shocks move independently of each other? I was under the impression you'd just make the front end more rigid.

Superbrace is hardly a no-name aftermarket supplier.
As far as the argument of a fork brace for off-road. I would agree in the most extreme situations, or a bike that is primarily used for off-road duty. For an on-road bike with light trail or country dirt roads, I will disagree.

https://superbrace.com/
Probably the biggest name in this particular product. As far as what is considered off-road. I am speaking strictly in context of what most out of the box Chinese made bikes like the Hawk are capable of given their limitations due to material quality, suspension components/capability, and the average use by most riders. Nothing too extreme really. Thus, I make this argument. If fork flex is so welcome, why did off-road bikes switch to upside down fork setups, where one of the (if not THE) biggest advantages is specifically strength and rigidity, and one of the biggest weaknesses is how vulnerable the fork seals are...or their propensity to spill all of their fluid in the event of a major failure, usually all over things you would rather not have oil on. Traditional forks do actually have some advantages, but rigidity is not one, and that is why a majority of fork braces tend to be made for that style in particular. Honestly, given the length and diameter of the fork stanchions on the Hawk in particular, even a fork brace will not fully eliminate flex.

I still do not understand why extra rigidity would be a bad thing for the front forks. Anyway... I think I found my solution:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252955960539 All measurements except the bolt holes match up, so after a quick bit of modding I should be golden! If anyone else does decide to buy one, they should measure it for themselves. I ordered one and will report my findings back here when it comes in. |

Just done the mikuni carb swap with a 110 jet, got everything back together and it idles crazy high no matter where the idle screw is. Also on the test ride, whike there is increased power, it now feels like there is a steady miss, like a cut in the fuel supply. If I am I creasing speed and laying on the throttle it's not that bad, but when I try to maintain a constant speed, it is really bad.... Ideas?

I was looking at seeing if a fork brace for an older XR200R could work as well, but I need to find some dimensions/specs to be 100% sure. looks like they might work though.
