Worked on the bike today. I changed the tires with the ones that blimpman
gave me finally. I also replaced the stock tubes with some heavy duty ones
I bought when I got the bike. I kept the originals in case I get a flat as I
can't afford new ones right now. I used the tools from my on bike toolkit.
Just to see that it could be done on the road or trail. Everything went well.

Pics...

I also readjusted the brake lever and ended up with my first stripped
bolt. I had one that fit so I just replaced it. I have a few more things
to do before it is road worthy again. I want to finish it up tomorrow.

The bolt...

I spent a few hours in the garage yesterday working on my bike. I took a
bunch of pics to document the new tank install for you all. Unfortunately
when I went to retrieve them from the camera I accidentally deleted them
due to a malfunctioning mouse. I was quite bummed and spent about
thirty minutes giving it a piece of my mind along with a few choice words.
Sorry all as I do not feel like taking it all back apart again. I'm at the point
were I just need to tune the carb with the new main jet. I gave up as I was
tired and wasn't in the mood to burn my hand any longer. Until next time...

Well the 4.7 Clarke tank is a no go. I put the stock one back on. Here is a
pic of how it is gonna stay for now.

I do have a exhaust with a USFS approved spark arrestor that I got
off of ebay but am hesitant to install it as my welding skills aren't
quite there yet. One day.

Looking at this pic, what do you have under your seat cover? Or did it come with this much cushion?

Two inches of foam added to the top and one to the sides. No it didn't come
that way. My dad is an upholsterer and we redid it along with the other seat
I have. I just got back from a shake down ride on the bike. Hit the local trails
and remembered just how fun that trail riding is. Everything seemed to work
well, except for the rear brakes. They are drum and kept sounding as if they
were binding when applied hard. Tried adjusting them a bit, but still did the
same thing. Anyone have any ideas? The seat is covered in vinyl and really
made my rear sweat in the thirty minutes I was on the bike. Getting ready
to head to my folks and see what kind of material my dad has on hand so
I can ditch the vinyl. It is hot here today as well so I know this was a factor.
I also wasn't to fond of riding the bike with the ammo can full of tools so I
spent about an hour last night adding a lock to it. Nothing fancy but
hopefully enough to deter someone from messing with it? Here's a pic...

Now I just need to find me a sitter (kids last day of school today) so I can
go out for a real ride.

Ammo can looks good man. I will be mounting a "rubbermade" 10gal storage container on the back of the new DB-07B's.

Easy, what happened with the large tank? was it just not mounting very secure? or was it a gas feeding issue? Let me know, cause i was really stoked about seeing that massive thing on there!

Also, how did that larger carb work out for you? I remember reading that you had upgraded it to 30mm from 28mm? is that still installed and working?

Good luck on that ride, i have been trying to find some other enduro riders locally that want to go on a ride...

Thanks it turned out better than I expected. Wow I would imagine you would
have plenty of storage with that thing. Here's link to one with a space for a
lock on it.

No the mounting was quite secure. I just wasn't happy with how close the
bottom of the tank sat next to the engine. Didn't want to end up being a
large molitov cocktail. When I tried to raise it up the seat wouldn't fit
properly. Pretty much gave up. The fuel feeding was not a problem. Gravity
did it's job quite well. The carb was a no go as well. couldn't get it to seal
up to the intake good enough. It did work but just not quite right. Oh well
live and learn. Wish I was closer as I would love to go riding. Went out
yesterday for a bit and had a blast. Best of luck finding a riding partner.

Well I guess the spell checker didn't like the word c o c k t a i l

As mentioned earlier I was going to my folks and have my dad recover my
seat with some material rather than vinyl. I took my back up seat and had
him add a piece of two inch foam to the top as well. He said it might be a
little thick, but I told him I didn't care. Comfort is the most important factor.
Here's some pics of how it ended up. Yes it is like sitting on a big comfy
couch. Probably won't do well in the rain either, but hey it was a free seat
and recover job! Oh yeah this was the only color material that he had that
looked half way decent. I won't complain.

The one's I got are from Big Lots for $3.25 and look more like the http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid...d=HPProd150021

I will have to make a base mounting plate for the rack but it should do ok for what we need.

I know the ones. I made a litter box out of one of those for a cat I had.
He unfortunately died. That should make a good storage box. Look
forward to a pic or two once you get it completed.
