that looks a bit messy. what a pain, given all the effort you ve put in so far! can you clean this mess up with a dremel, and find a woodruff key which fits? as weldangrind says above, this crank may have had it, though. it may be better to split the case and put in a new crank?
what would cause sth like that? bad assembly, wrong size woodruff to begin with?

I searched around found a method with using valve grinding paste & work flywheel on with it, seats nicely, loctite ,i know where i went wrong , I didn't torque it to right spec she's all up and running again sweet,
Now im just trying to figure out why I have excessive loud noise from valves? Im running full synthetic 5w-40 What oil you guys prefer? Also im still lost to see how/where this vacuum valve coming off inlet manifold is meant to be plummed into,its idling high & hanging wondering if i should just block it off |

OZ's temp are similar to Guangdong... --- Shell Helix in red bottle (aka HX3) is 1 of proven oil in "workhorse"...

Haha 20/50 is my default choice, but ive got some penrite full synth left over thinking it maybe better, ive still got alot to learn

I wouldn't run full synth until you have a few hundred miles on the rebuild .

I like Shell Rotella 15W40.
Definitely plug that vacuum port; it is drawing unfiltered air. What did you set your valves to?

Changed oil to 20w -50, blocked out vachum outlet, she runs sweet,
Just curious if other owners have compared these engines to honda xr200 /250 ? It feels i little down in performance, sort of struggling to get up slight sandy incline? & has flat spot a round the midrange? I wasn't expecting much to bigin with just curious? |

The design is quite close to the old XR200, but the frame of architecture is a little different. The engine you're working with can accept a larger bore cylinder, due to wider stud spacing. I haven't taken the time to compare cams, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a hot XR cam might wake up your motor. Maybe Webcams would be a good source.
You could also play with midrange settings on your carb. Have you tried shimming the needle, or only moving the clip?

Rubber bung? ?
Pulled engine out again top end was oil starved, but was wondering what this little rubber bung is or does? Located next to cam bearing
Got spare engine in at the moment till i fix this one |
