Yup, starts first kick now. Haven't started on the electronics yet. I'm trying to get the header to seat. It just butts up flush on the head, no indentation, but can't get rid of the loud exhaust leak. They sent me these weird crush gaskets (see page 3) (sent two). Tried one and two but no luck. Going to try the coper ones and see if any better. Its really loud so want to get that squared away, get the airbox back on and then see how she runs.

Found the battery box online at two places, getting a battery this week, then comes the real fun I'm sure.

Not yet, the new gaskets just came today with some other parts. I think my error was not getting the header buttoned up before tackling the muffler, we'll see.

So my new rear inner fender showed up today along with my battery and exhaust gaskets. Got the rear light assembly all put back together, battery charging, then will begin the electrical. Really not my strong suit, electrical troubleshooting. Wish my brother in-law lived closer this is his specialty,

So I got a good surprise today. I have been trying to come up with a way to mount the battery. Was looking at making something, sizing junction boxes and a few other weird ideas. No one had the original box in stock and i wasn't too crazy about the design anyway. Then I came across Roketa Parts , they had one that looked close, none of my other options where looking that good so took a chance.

Well it came today and not only does it fit perfectly but it's metal 😎!!! All metal, painted black and just a simple retaining panel to secure the battery.

But it all can't be good news, now I have to get a battery that fits, the one I just received is like 3/8 too tall. Calling the battery dealer today and hopefully can sort that out. But man so happy with the battery box, one step closer 😋 🏍

A battery box like that would take me all day to fabricate.

It does appear to be well made ... superior to the plastic one.

Progress, electrical begins

Okay so got the right battery and have it wired in.

Working so far:
  • Horn
  • High Beam
  • Tail Light

Starter does nothing but haven't started trouble shooting it yet. Other stuff may work but still running down all the cut wires.

Anyone recommend a good electrical kit with all those wire ends? Buying them one off is a pain.

The starter relay is getting warm/hot but not making any clicking noise or anything. Any idea how to test the relay short of replacing it? I'm googling but haven't found anything yet.

(referencing that picture)

You want to make sure you have continuity between pins 85 and 86, you should have a bit of resistance. (Should be fairly thin wires, compared to the wires on 87 and 30, those wires will be very thick to handle the starter current.)

You should have NO continuity between 87 and 30, when that closes, that sends power to your starter.

If you use wire and send 12v to 85 and 86, it should click and start the bike. (If you have the battery connected to the one side of the relay, and the other side of the relay going to the starter.)
