We have a Fastenal in our local town of Martel but it's a small store in a strip mall. We used to have a great hardware store in Sac called Brown's Hardware. It was a family shop that grew over the decades in the same location. They had open bins of every fastener you could imagine. It was so fun to wander around in there! It even smelled old and the old plank floors were glazed with decades of dirt from work boots. They finally closed shop a few years ago and there hasn't been a place like it since around here.

I'd love to have a shop like that near me.

Mikuni
Received my Mikuni carb last night. It came with a 100 main and a 20 pilot. Way too lean for the 167FMM. I have a 115 main and 30 pilot in both my Xmoto and Q Link and even at almost 3000 feet, they run very well so that's what I ordered from Jets R Us. I tried shopping jets by "carb type" but the VM carb listings showed a different slow jet. I ended up searching "by vehicle type" and found the correct jets under Yamaha "YMF200 Moto 4", for those who may be looking to replace their stock Keihin clone with a Mikuni and are looking for jets.
http://jetsrus.com/a_jet_kit_atv/yam...M200_moto4.htm My K&N-type breather should be here Thursday. Now I need to do something with the exhaust. I have an FMF Turbine Core II, new, sitting on the shelf so I'll probably fab that into it. Any other exhaust suggestions???? What are others running?

I am jumping in on the end here not sure if it has been mentioned yet. When I need any type of fastener I head to my local ACE Hardware. They have everything there and are especially known for having the weird and hard to find type stuff. Most notably any type of fastener used on old power equipment like older lawn mowers, tractors etc. Another item they have a great selection of is springs. Take any spring off your bike, scooter, 4 wheeler what have you and they have something that will likely work for you.

I'm pretty sure these are the correct jets at www.jetsrus.com:

I tired to order from them, and they wouldn't ship to Canada. I used my US mailing address, but they wouldn't accept a "foreign" Paypal account.
I now order jets on eBay. I'm sure that Jets R Us has terrific service, but not on my side of the border.

More Mods
Rainy and cold today so I wrenched. The jets haven't showed up yet but all else did, including the correct bolts for the spacers, so I go that done.
I mounted the LED lights that came in a few days ago on the front bumper. Very nice units so far. More solid and heavier than I was expecting. Can't remember the brand at the moment but very reasonable too. Since the stock lights are "for display purposes only", I tapped into the high beam circuit so I can use the existing button to fire them. So, the low beams are normal and the high beams turn on the LED's and the stock lights go out. I mounted the Kolpin Double Rhino gun racks. I'm also quite happy with these so far. It's not going to be a hunting machine but more for working the property. They held the loppers and my weedeater, no problems. Finally, the most important piece....the beer holder. Success!

I thought you said it was a beer holder. What's Miller Lite doing in there?
Great idea on the Kolpin racks for holding a weedeater, etc. I really like the idea of using the high beam circuit for the LED lights.

Hey now! I'm not a fan of beer that requires flossing afterward. ;-)

2LZ, Have you ran it much with the new lights yet?? I don't know what the AMP out put is of the gen.. I don't get lights that are too big of a draw.. I know the little 135DU can barely keep the stock lights lit.. at idle the dim, but the 150 seems to do good..
(Kind of wishing I had bought the 250.) |
