Sad, isn't it.

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

Clean break from mostly fatigue and perhaps some help from rust...

Whipped out the 140amp gasless welder, did some rough prep and also cut out a section of pipe from the junked SWB exhaust pipe to make a support sleeve/collar...
Don't under sell your skills

Damn nice fix. The sleeve was a great idea. Who cares if it is fully sealed. Won't hear it! I welded a small mounting cylinder to my trailer for a swing-away jack. I chose the wrong stick and applied way too much amps at the start! I realized that the little cylinder was pretty soft, moved to a thinner stick and dropped the voltage, then proceeded to make a nice lumpy mess. It will hold OK. Overbuilt. But gee, I need much more welding time

Booger zapping is about as accurate as the methodology is described...

Stronger than throwing popcorn...

I'm old enough now where pooping is a highlight of my day...

I usually call it 'Stacking Nickels' and 'Hanging Grapes'. Nickels or dimes just aren't an option when space is limited.

A couple cups of black coffee in the morning will usually get things 'moving'.

Yes well we're all dollars and cents in Aus along with mostly metric though imperial still gets thrown around.

Nickles and Dimes are foreign to me...Smallest coinage we used to have was a 1c copper/nickel coin before that got removed out of circulation and 5c became lowest mintage.

As far as welding and fecal matter is concerned you want be somewhere between rat sh1t and bird sh1t...

I call it booger welding when you're laying on your back looking at the underside and welding around an object blind on one side....

Derpin Around with diesel pump timing

Since the Motorcyle decided to snap a push rod and the Auto crunchy parts van is leaving transmission fluid leaks where I park it after running...

Derpin the main van needed to shake off some cobwebs and dust from sitting in the garage for months now...

Before playing with the pump and putting all the bits back into it I put the diesel compression test kit to work, I wanted to confirm that my cylinder head and gasket job was actually successful or if I actually fumbled hard...

Results however are cylinders 1/2/3 hit 380psi with cylinder 4 hitting 400psi.
Which is about smack bang in the middle of specification and well within deviation tolerance.

So with that pat on the back I needed to confirm it was indeed an injection timing issue...

the stock/prior timing mark was center aligned...clockwise down the engine stumbled and chuffed white smoke more often with a shuddering...

counter/anticlockwise up things improved to the point I would call drive-able granted there's a couple of coolant leaks to sort out...A bit sooty but smoother...though still not perfect when compared to the parts van auto engine...

Anyway I have forwarded this same relevant info to the diesel pump workshop to perhaps confirm the Anticlockwise position indicates the pump is out 1 tooth...

Still nice to be out of the garage for a wash down and sunny air out at least.

Also remember to connect the diesel return line before running, your garage floor will thank you...

Word back from the Diesel pump service center is they still believe I did something incorrect.

I am at the stage now where i might have to swap pumps just to prove a point without a shadow of doubt, That either I did get it wrong, or the serviced pump is faulty....
