Arpok and I stopped at the annual Memorial Day Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast that's held at the Elburn American Legion.

The old Jeep is also a fixture out front every Memorial Day. I'm not sure if it's a CJ-2A or 3A. Cool old rig.

New petcock installed yesterday afternoon. It's not a vacuum style, so I have to remember to open and close it. That's the tough part.

I didn't see any crud on the reserve side filter of the vacuum petcock. Actually, it was very clean, so the problem is internal. It's the same unit used on a lot of large Japanese bikes, so a repair kit shouldn't be too hard to chase down.

Note to self:Make and place sticker next to speedo that says, 'Gas Off?' Probably, 'Gas On', too.

Man, I am outta shape. I replaced the pusher tire yesterday and I still hurt this morning. My original plan was to mount the new tire on the spare rim, move the pusher to the sidecar, and relegate the sidecar to spare duty. I did mount the new tire to the spare rim but one look at the pusher tire told me I should have changed it a few hundred miles ago.

It's been an epic week on Arpok.
It's gotten a new rear tire, new reaction arm bushings, got washed*, and had an F150 tank worth of fuel run through it. Still no new front hub. Probably an oil and filter change this week.

*Got caught in a downpour.

Still haven't gotten around to the oil and filter. I did replace the clutch cable today, though.

That's original and 500 miles short of 40,000 miles. Honestly, I don't think it had another 500 miles in it.

very fortunate it didn't let go. I hear that my Victory is prone to this. many riders say they carry spares with them just in case. :o

Arpok earned its keep last night.

The guy that owns the Sporty is the Event Guy for DuKane ABATE. He does all the bike nights, bike shows, swap meets and such in the area but hauls all the booth stuff in his car. He doesn't get to ride.
Coming up in August is a vintage bike show and wants to enter the 1976 Sporty. He's owned it for 42 years and just finished a full restoration. He asked membership if someone else could haul the stuff and I raised my hand. Last night was a dry run to a bike night at Wildfire Harley Davidson to see if it was doable. It was. The ABATE and Harley guys were duly impressed with what Arpok could fit in the sidecar.

The booth set up right out front of the showroom.

After replacing the pushrod seals on Thursday and letting the RTV set up, I rode about 20 miles today. Not a single drop of oil showed its ugly face on my cylinders...boots...pants...mufflers...garage floor.

Many years ago, I replaced the Russian rear brake light with a Standard Motor Products switch. The Russki switch was made from old bottle caps and sealed with Yak cheese. Ya done good if you got a year out of it. Yesterday, the Standard switch stopped working. Before heading out to the local NAPA and having the parts guy have to put his phone down and insist he needed a make, model, and year before he’d even look, I thought I’d give it a shot at fixing it.
Piece o’ cake. The switch separated into four pieces easily and the sparky bits were crudded up. A thorough cleaning and reassembly with some silicone grease and we’re back in business for another seven years.
