This followed me home from N. Wisconsin.
Believe it or not, its brand name is DeSoto. Not related to my old piece of Detroit Iron, tho. It was first registered in Rice Lake, WI in 1980. Then again in 81. Nothing since. My Dad got it at an auction. 20' wheels, front drum brake, single speed coaster in the back. No real plans for it at the moment, but that back plate where the basket was sure looks inviting for the placement of some internal combustion power.

And...the brakes don't work.

I was thinking more along the lines of a 110/125cc ATV engine with a four speed and reverse. I need much better rear brakes before that happens. I think I have a 90mm rear drum brake hub in my stash.

The front brake lever is fubared. The rear coaster brake is trash. Headset bearings are gone. I dug in my stash and found a pair of unused inverse brake levers, the 90mm rear drum brake, and a better seat than is on there now.
For grins, I replaced the front brake lever, along with the cable and housing. The front brake works now. The 90mm hub is a freewheel hub. As the gearing on this is compound with a 36T chain ring, an 18T cog on the coaster hub, a 24T on the hub shell and an 18T freewheel on the axle, I'm thinking about going with a 16 to 18T freewheel and a 22 to 24T threaded cog on the hub. We'll see.

I agree with your choice of the Honda ATV engine. Much lighter than the 212cc lump, but tougher to mount.
Glad the drum brake works. I used a Worksman front drum brake wheel on my old motorized bicycle. The heavy wheel really smoothed out the steering at20 mph and up.

Here's a mock up with the 90mm hub and 3 speed freewheel.
There will be some plasma cutter work to make this fit right. I'll need to cut a slot for the reaction arm and open up the hole about 1/4" for the chain to pass through to the 16T cog on the freewheel. I had hoped to make this a 2 speed, but that won't happen with a chain on both the 19T and 22T at the same time without at least a 23T cog replacing the 22T. As I'd rather slam my hand in a car door, repeatedly, than swap cogs on a freewheel, it's staying a single speed. The axle freewheel mount will need to be relocated a couple inches to the left to line up with the 22T on the hub. The threaded mount has been tack welded to the axle, so those will need to come off before I can do anything on the axle.

It looks like a beautiful holiday weekend in Illannoy. The endorphin and adrenaline parts of me want to get out there and put in some long miles. The PTSD and common sense parts say, "It's a holiday weekend! Are you out of your fcuking mind?"
There's three days, we'll see which side wins out.

I picked up this Trek Hybrid for putting in road work. My other bikes are project bikes so I wasn't logging enough miles to control my girth.

New to me score today. Barely used 1987 Raleigh Technium 440.
Back in my ultra-distance racing days, we called the Techniums 'Screwed and Glued' because the three main heat treated aluminum tubes were bonded to internal steel lugs. It's a 12 speed with a mix of SR, Shimano, Dia-compe, and Araya parts. All I plan on doing is to clean, tune up, tires, and replace the saddle. The saddle is coming apart. I've been looking to add a Technium to the herd for about a year but either they were the wrong size, beat to hell, or way over priced. I couldn't argue with barely used, right size, and seventy bucks.
