Especially when you are stalled on a slick hillside or in a creek or between a rock and a hard place!

kens, if you could find a China engine that is an actual 250 (and is copied from an XR250R), you might have a winner. The obvious giveaway is the exhaust header with two pipes. What would it take to resurrect the XR250R motor?

There's a lot of parts for an '83 on Doc's shop floor.

Those are your parts!
The 84-85 RFVC XR200's were a disaster. They overheated and were overly complex and underpowered and were dropped after 2 model years. The folks at TT will have more info if you need on engine/frame interchangeablity but I think the 84-85 XR200's are basically the same as the RFVC XR250's and won't interchange. Rebuilding an XR250 can be pricey, as I learned on mine. They also overheat and crack the head, which mine did. It was expensive to rebuild, and never ran right after that, and I was lucky to break even when I sold it.

No progress was made. Wife overuled on my time.
Anyway current status. Still waiting on the sprocket from Hooper and the CDI box. The seller sent me the wrong item. Ordered an exhaust gasket today. So I believe that I have everything here or coming that I will need. |

Hopefully your sprocket, gasket, and CDI will be in soon. I can't wait! Let me know if you need help with the wiring. Remember solder and heat shrink tubing and good solid grounds.

I plan to make some extra ground straps. Going to need to get my soldering equipment out.
So the plan for Saturday may be to tighten the bolts on the engine, clean the carb and mount it, and paint the exhaust. |

I used Rustoleum BBQ paint which worked great and seems to be holding up well. What are you going to use for a battery and where are you going to put it?

Not sure on the battery. I have a couple of leftovers around here. Forgot about that item.
I do plan to weld up a box to fit in the stock filter location. |
