So far my list of upgrades after the exhaust is done.

Wife is 5' tall so some steps will be needed. Kids don't care.

I read about getting the steering stabilizer found on the ambulance package. Cost about $150 for parts and bolts on.

Front windows will get tinted before summer. Best $75 I spent on the minivan.

I think a backup camera would be nice. I may consider one of those in dash stereo, nav, screen things. This thing has a cassette player.

Movie player in the back. Might need two screens.

Oh, I past by a large dumpster this morning and was thinking about how nice it would have been to be in the big gulp.

Good to know the exact figures. The numbers I got was just off a cursory Google search for 'Ford V10 Triton'.

I have never owned anything will 300hp before. It sounds like alot, but these vans weigh in about 6000lbs empty. Add 800-1000lbs of people plus another 300lbs of stuff for a day trip. The e350 has about 4000lb cargo capacity plus I believe 9500lbs towing with the v10 and 3.73 axle. I think that show cover all of our needs.

Also sounds like removing the manifolds is not too bad. It getting the broken studs out.

The ambulances we used weighed 8,000-9,000 lbs. Back in the day they had MAYBE 200 HP. They used 351-400 some-odd cubic inch engines. Back in the 80's HP was way down compared to where it is now. Pre EFI and all.

These machines were turds. 85 MPH with both feet flat on the floor, and you would NOT want to go any faster than that. Squirrely buggers. Add any wind and 70 was as fast as you'd feel comfortable going.

Acceleration was slow also. Full throttle to get onto the highway or pass up a hill. They got about 10 MPG.

Still a lot of fun going to a scene though :-)

I think that the performance will be acceptable for me.

Good score! It will likely get the same mileage fully loaded as it would when empty.

If you struggle with the busted manifold studs, you could always MIG a bolt onto the broken stud. Heat it until it's red, quench it with WD-40 and turn the bolt. I bet it walks right out.

On schedule for a pickup tomorrow morning. Seller called and said that they just took it down the highway at 70mph to make sure it was ready.

I got earplugs in my jacket pocket. 325 miles with an exhaust leak may not be good for the hearing. I plan to drive with the passenger window open partway.

Wise moves, Kato. I personally wear earplugs all the time while riding, just like I wear a helmet. I even use them with power tools, a vacuum, a hammer, the convertible, etc.

Well. I got there and they had the van idling. I looked in the passenger wheel well and noticed the engine shaking and the manifold looked good. Took the dog house off and air was blowing out the left rear plug hole. Exhaust manifolds are fine. One blown out sparkplug. The plug and the COP were in the console. Much easier fix. Disconnected the injector to that cylinder and drove it home 320 miles.

Dang Kato!

Praise the Lord!

Looks like an easy fix ergo a good deal.

Well done.

My Ford Probe GT Turbo once spit out a sparkplug. For the life of me I can't figure out why that happened. I put i in and it never happened again.

Wish I never sold that car but I needed a truck after mine left. With my ex in it...

I miss that truck.

From what I have read these can be repaired without pulling the head. The plug that came out looked almost new. I will have to get a new coil. The mount is broken off.

Lily and Emilie road back with me. They had plenty of space. The heat works great. Runs you out with the dial set in the middle. Paint on the roof needs redone. Some surface rust up there. Outside door handle on side passenger door not working and the indicator light for the high beams not working.

The exhuast manifolds actually look new.
