I guess I didn't have enough lube on it. It's fine now, the air took care of it. these tires don't feel much different than the stock tires on the road.
Spud, Yea I have read about the 244's on the front and that they don't do well in the mud at other forums. I like how they ride on the road though.

As we discussed via email, I think you made an excellent choice purchasing the Shinko 244 tires. If you start riding more aggressively off road, you can always purchase more dirt-oriented tires in the future. I rode the Shinko 244, front tire for about 8,000 miles on my Zong. This tire does a very good job on rock, gravel, and hardpack. However, as with any 50/50 tire, its Achilles heel is mud! Spud

If I get my xr together I would love to go trail riding. Would need to stick to OHV trails as I won't have a tag.

Sounds good, there are 3 OHV trails on the other side of Toccoa, one just a few miles down the road and the others arn't too far. Atleast thats what it looks like on the map. I have never been to them but have heard they were fun. Alan

Spud,
How much trouble will I have trail ridding with the 14T front sprocket? I still have the 15T on and it is much to tall.

At my elevation, the 12T would probably reach a top speed slightly above 60 mph. The Zong might run a little faster in the thicker air at sea level. Reasonably, you can only expect modest speed from these 196cc engines. If you want low engine rpms, run the 13T, or 14T countershaft sprockets. However, if you need torque for serious off road riding, you will need the 12T countershaft sprocket. If you haven't done much trail riding, the 13T countershaft sprocket might be a good place to start. Then, when you tackle tougher terrain, and need more torque, you can experiment with the 12T countershaft sprocket. Spud
