The only use I see in NC for Locust is split rail fences. I going to be doing some logging this year in WNC since our property is in a Forest Stewardship Plan that requires that I do some thinning.
I have some veneer grade Poplar and Black Cherry to log.
I think or guessing these mills cut them for custom decks down at the Lake of Ozarks, but I could be wrong. Next weekend I'm doing some volunteer tree work on the Ozark Trail in southern Missouri. There will probably be some loggers down there that know the mills a lot better then I do. I'll ask them why they want veneer logs.

Western North Carolina is beautiful. I used to deliver to a Gerber plant in Ashville. Got laid over there one weekend, rented a car and did some hiking in the Smokies.

Thanks for the recharge, Jim!
I've been here all day, doing laundry, household chores, down in the valley floor....watching it rain and be gray! I'm ready for Spring......heck!....a little sunlight may even help! 8O

From my google searches it appears 3300 ft at the base and 4500 at the top... Not sure if that's right.

Jeep did a wheelie at the top of the hill climb and had already flipped backwards once before I could fire the camera...it always takes a second looking at the pic to realize that its the back end in the air...old pic though...

LOL. Yellow hat was already running. I've got 5 or 6 pics of the event. The Jeep had bounced on the rear bumper for what felt like forever...the last pic was after we had put 3 tires back on the wheel and tried to strap the axles in place so we could get it off the trail...the owner had calmed down enough to mug for pics...

If I had backflipped twice inside that rig, I wouldn't be "mugging" if you photographed me sprawled out on the hood! How does a guy explain this incident to his wife? 8O

I think he should have stuck to flatland like on the windshield. I have nearly gone over forward before in my nissan truck. ATV jumps.

I dont know about the wife but his insurance covered this...he told them yes he was trying to climb the hill but no he wasnt trying to damage the jeep.

Best part is this happened in florida. Good times. He DID have a good aftermarket roll cage and seat belts.

YellowXJ,

Those are cool pics, but that would scare the heck out of me being that close to a jeep tumbling down a hill 8O
