So... last , nite the wife wanted to go to Lowes....look at the flowers she said.... Well.... We ended up buying a fridge... A scratch and dent Samsung (same line as our scratch and dent dishwasher we got for $150, originally 700, and our range, that we paid full price for, got us hooked on Samsung appliances)... Original price on the fridge:$2295... Out the door scratch and dent price? $751 with tax included.... Winston approves!

I want to share a private story with you, on the internet, in an open forum.

I have a cousin that travels around a certain area of the US in his spare time. He has a knack for jawing managers down on the scratch and dent items. He then brings them to me, where I use my super powers to repair the blem. He then sales them for almost new prices. One of us delivers the item, and I usually do a full install. He charges for the delivery and installs. I take away the old appliance, rebuild it, and sell them. I do delivery and installs if asked. Depending on where the person lives, and how much I make off the appliance, I sometimes charge a delivery/setup fee. I make pretty good most of the time. You'd be surprised at how good a living a person or two can make doing this. I never use BS tactics to make a sale. I'm honest and upfront with everyone. I also give a 30-day warranty on most appliances I sell. I'll repair it or do a trade out with a similar appliance.

The market for stuff like this doesn't seem to be overly saturated yet. I will assume any knowledgeable person can do this. If I get stumped on a repair, I can usually research the problem and make the repair. I am amazed at some of the things people toss out and how easy it is to make the repair. I'm also amazed at how much some repair guys charge to do repairs that are quick and easy.

It's too bad you don't live closer ben2go ,I can hook you up with so much of that stuff your head would spin .How about a 300 unit condo development 3 years old ,somebodies fridge had electrical issues and caught fire ,so new appliances for everybody ?Thats everything ,fridge stove washer dryer dishwasher everything ,we no longer want Samsung junk in our building !I have a 3 month old Electrolux stove in my carport ( currently holding up some tools ,a gas can ,and one end of my aluminum brake, rich foreign lady couldn't figure it out ( she refused to get the special pots and pans ) so she bought another .She paid $4000.00 for this stove .I might use it in the garage for powder coating smaller things ,it will match the stove in my kitchen .
With the internet ,repairing this stuff is fairly simple ,problem is many manufacturers have made agreements with their repair agents for them to not sell parts over the counter ,the repair shops wanted exclusive rights to doing the repairs or they were not going to do warranty work anymore .At least you still can get parts from the net ,or Sears still sells them .

I bought...

The ebay exhaust, MSR shifter, DEI LR header wrap, DEI reflective gold foil, PJ1 15wt fork oil, some DuPont chain saver chain lube, a K&N washable - non oiled filter, H4 LED headlight, and FIVE GOLDEN TOOKS!

Kind of eyeballing an oil cooler setup too, but I may hold off on that one for now.

Already have my carb, chain, sprockets, etc. Waiting on the mixture thumb screw via China post....so that means it should have been here from yesterday until next month.

Got the A/C working on the Metro today, all of 15 minutes!!! ... it was blowing ice cubes out the vents, took a pic with a temp probe showing ~40 degrees coming out the vents (~80 outside)... so with it done and working I decide to take the family shopping in a car with ice cold A/C blowing...

A few minutes into the drive, the A/C stops working, a few minutes later and we start to hear loud bangs, clangs, and some grinding noises... then we see big chunks of metal flying from under/behind our car ( all while a car was bumper to bumper tailgating us too )...

Turn the A/C button off, the horrid sounds and metal parts stop flying... "Huh, that's odd"... so we limp the car back home... put it up on jack stands... found part of the Clutch/Belt Housing from the A/C Compressor digging into the firewall and wheel fender area...

Lucky us... we only need to replace the A/C Compressor, no fender/wheel/cv axle/power steering/brake caliper damage was done... unlucky us... I just vacuumed and charged the system ($30 spent in PAG oil and 2 cans of r-134a) and a new A/C Compressor costs over $280 to fulfill all the "Warranty Requirements"... plus I will need some more PAG oil and 2 more cans of r-134a... so add another $30 to that price tag

Was about the cost of a new windshield (that was the fee for tailgaters right behind us)

Lesson of the day... if you see me driving, I wouldn't tail gate... my cars like to have some distance between our two bumpers

Two small American flags to attach to the Ural for this years' Memorial Day Parade. I'm transporting one of the past VFW Commanders in the sidecar.
