Adjusted the slide up one notch and had the same issue, weld. Ended up installing a whole diff air filter and ran great. Im gonna reset the slide and fine tune the air/fuel adjust and the idle. She SHOULD be 100% tomorrow. I do wonder if I should have this machine rejetted for my elevation to get the full potential tho?

What do you suppose the new air filter had over the other two? Were they just dirty? Too restrictive?

The bottom line is that your engine couldn't breathe before. Wait until you take it for a good rip before making jetting changes. Warm it up and then check the plug. If it's ok, then ride it and check the plug again. If there is no noticeable bog anywhere in the rpm range and the plug is happy, leave it.

Miz's statement kept ringing in my head even after I swapped filters. I just found it odd that it ran fine with the filter caked with dirt and ran like crap after I cleaned it and blew it out. Gotta look at the positive tho, at least I got VERY familar with the carb & it got a helluva cleaning! Too bad the police had to come over and lecture one of my daughters and I for 'raising hell' as we tried out the adjustments and ran it up & down the street :]

After rereading your first post, i must add that the cotton pleated air filters should always be cleaned with soapy water, not gasoline, i wonder if that is what plugged up the filter, i have to clean mine every week on the microsprint and i usually soak it in warm soapy water for 1/2 hr and then spray them off with the hose, let them dry and then spray them with the K&N air filter oil.
One other thing is these cheap filters that come on these quads/bikes are no comparision to a real K&N, who knows what material their even using for the element.

Glad to hear you got it running right; to bad the local constables don't have the same enthusiasm for China bike victories that we do.
