Motobuys won't get back to me with a shipping price. You can send them a message from the website. I asked for a price on the vento (the cheaper of the two). Someone replied they would get me a price the next day. Never happened. I tried one more time, with no reply. I give up. Possible lost sale for Motobuys.

After a cursory examination, I can't see any significant difference, either.

There is a difference, and it's in the engines. Not just that the Hawk is painted black, while the Vento is silver either. Look closely at the right side engine cases. The Vento, at the lower area on the r/side cover at the lower right, has a 3 screw cover that looks like probably the cleanable screen. There is no oil level check window. Now look at a photo of the Hawk in that same area. The Hawk has, where the Vento's filter cover is, an oil level check window. And the Hawk has what appears to be it's oil filter screen cover up above where the oil level glass is. These are not the same engines at all. I found a better photo of the Hawk here:
https://www.powerrideoutlet.com/pro-...l#!prettyPhoto[pro-spec-d-250-dirt-bike-detail-photo]/11/ Scroll down and you'll see a bunch of photo you cane open for a good view of that right side engine cover. But, this may all be moot, as newrider ordered the Vento, but was sent a Hawk. Has anyone ordered a Vento and got the one in the photos at motobuys.com? Is there really a Vento as shown in the photos?

You have a good eye. It's was very hard me to see much detail in the small photographs of the Hawk's black engine. I found the larger images to which you referred. Indeed, the engines are very different.

Quite often they are incorrect as they are here.... I also thought the engine was different, perhaps with an oil filter....but no, that is just an old file photo of some sorts, not what the bike looks like. As pointed out above, sometimes a completely differently branded bike arrives, that shares similarities with the web add.... That's life as a Chinarider.... |

And I realize that often the photos of China built motorcycles for sale at these drop shippers can be wrong. So can the descriptions. The other day I was reading the description from one of the sellers with a huge assortment of bikes. I was reading about a "sportsbike". In the description, it said it had "four cylinders". I am quite sure this is a missprint. It may be a twin. You'd think the sellers would use a little bit of effort to produce an accurate web page. No wonder there are so many complaints about online sellers. The place I am planning to order my bike from (if I stay with the Hawk, rather than the Bashon 200, which I was originally wanting) is rated an F by the BBB. But the, so are most of the competition.

Yes, what often happens is someone purchases a china bike or quad on line who really isn't qualified to assemble, troubleshoot, or maintain the equipment. Then when they struggle, they blame the dealer, or actually the drop shipper for all their problems. So often times internet china bike vendors have lousy undeserved reputations.

I think that's likely a lot of it. Or, someone pulls the wrong box, or the bike is incorrectly marked. And the drop shipper is having it shipped from the storage facility, and never even sees the box.
