If the rain lets up a little, there may be an engine going in...

New engine sitting in engine bay. A few bolts tight, but then I wore out.
So, several things. Take the hood off. And, take the motor mounts off. The flex plate has to line up with the studs on torque converter. What a stupid design. Once bellhousing and motor Are attached and still on lift, reattached the motor mounts, through the fender wells. This will cause you less pain and suffering. In fact, removing the plastic fenderwells is highly recommended. After they are back on it will sit down in its mounts and the rest is putting bolts in. I also left the exhaust manifolds off. This may come back to haunt me, but I will see. I figure I can get to the bolts through the fenderwells too.

I have 4 of the 7 or 8 bellhousing bolts tight. The other 3 are Mother bears to get to. Ugh. Then, motormount bolts. Then the replacement of all the smaller parts. Maybe tomorrow... will see how my hands feel, lol.

I've had similar trouble with my '00 Silverado, and that was only the removal, repair and installation of the exhaust system. Wow, stuff was hard to get to.

It was 18-24 inches worth of reach to get around that gm turbo 400 bell if remember correctly

Got a lot done today, and sold the dead engine and the 4r100 tranny to a guy who also has a project expedition in his back yard. Also, found another 'dead' expedition that is the same color as mine, so am going to go look at it tomorrow and see. If it is, it's 450$ and has a good door and tires and rims. So, moving forward.

If my math is correct, you were $525.00 to the good when you sold the dead engine and trans. I'm betting that you're somewhere in the neighbourhood of $750.00 to the good before buying this proposed dead Expedition for $450.00, although I bet you'll pay less.
By the time you're done, I expect that you'll have a fully functional Super Crew plus some beer money. That's good news, because Oregon has some of the best IPA in the land.

Today was right side underneath day. Got everything done. Motor mount. Exhaust manifold. Starter. A/c compressor. Starting to get excited. Have the other exhaust manifold in place, but not tight yet. I should be up on the top for good, starting tomorrow. Woo hoo!
Oh yeah, the expedition was a bust. First, wrong color. 2nd, dent in door. 3rd, 1 bad tire. Sooo, not going to bite.
