doc i already made a bracket,,, I posted a pic of it,,,,, pretty simple just needed the speedo drive hub to not spin backwards when backing up,,, thats what kinked my cable and caused its early failure

Maybe post a picture of the bracket and how you made it? I'd like to see and I bet it would help out other PP owners! 8)

pitster speedo bracket
here is the bracket ,you can clearly see that now the bracket holds the speedo hub from rotating backwards,,, The screw that holds the cable in the hub wedges tightly on the backside of the fork leg, preventing it from rotating to far forward.

speedo bracket
it is a small pc of angle iron from the crate it came in, bolted down thru the forkleg pinch bolts,, goes across and fits above the tab sticking out on the speedo hub. That tab sticking out on the speedo hub would normally fit between two protrusions molded into the inside bottom of the forkleg as in most cycles including my zong.

Looks good. I'd say it looked factory, but the factory neglected this piece in the first place. :?

Daddy and Fish, please do keep us updated regarding Pitster Pro's ability to provide parts for the LXT 400. Pitster Pro might have good intentions, but if Xingyue either cannot, or will not ship parts to Utah, potential LXT 400 buyers need to know this information.

I finally got to the DMV yesterday and registered it with no problems Now I just need some warm weather! I'm sorry to hear about the speedo problem. I luckily didn't have that problem. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but every time I get a new bike I detach the cable from the cluster and drip some oil down the inside of the speedometer cable to lube it up a bit and I haven't ever had a problem with them snapping. Again it may not have anything to do with anything, just something to ponder. As for top speed, I haven't opened it up all the way yet to test it due to me wanting to break it in a little first and change the oil, but I have hit 70 with no problem what so ever

Those are now advertised at $1,999,00 on the website....The water cooled 250 is at $1,800.00
The 250 has I believe 25hp and the 400 has 27hp, something to consider, that being hp to weight. Not sure but I am under the impression that the 250 engine is a copy of the NX250 Honda engine, that may or may not make it easy to find parts for? If the Xingyue has a lower case of a 250 and with a larger cylinder then its a Frankenstein bike and based in part on a model that was not sold in the US? The NX250 was sold in the US, so parts can or should be available for it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_NX250 I also see better machines parts on the 250, the swing arm and hubs look to be of a higher quality? I am not sure but if it has a bolt for bolt copy of the NX250 engine then its actually a good value at $1,800.00? |

That looks like a Supermoto. Do they make a Dualsport?

Oengus, you may have just steered us to an American market parts source.

Agreed. There aren't any really clear engine photos, but my guess is that the Pitster 250 is a close copy, since the NX250 is liquid cooled.

Pitster Pro obviously does not stock parts for the LXT 400 motorcycle. :( However, Pitster might stock parts for the XTR 250. Therefore, Daddy might be able to buy an XTR 250, stator cover for his LXT 400.
